Yes definitly closer to Hoya finlaysonii and callistophylla but the Hoya pottsii group is a large one still so these species are still under that umbrella for now even considering their diversity. The leaves remind me of my Hoya sp. Kapit Borneo IML 1029 that I posted in the thread on leaves. That species has not been identified yet so not sure what it is but it is the plant that most resembles Xuan's plant of any other Hoya I have see so far although there are still so many out there that have not been collected and identified. Xuan are there purple veins on the underside of your plants leaves or are they solid green? Mike

You are so lucky to live that close to the nursery! I live states away and will unfortunately have to have mine shipped to me. Anyway, here is a list of my favorites from them: - Divine (miniature) - Tangerine Dreams - Scentsational (STRONG fragrance) - Star White - Fire Storm - Aztec Gold (Peach scent) - Tiger - Gina - Macarena - Delightful (I've heard nothing but GREATNESS about the fragrance) I don't own any of these, but I do love the pictures of them. You can also search around for better images of them on the internet as well. Seedlings are so fun to watch grow and they grow fast. Well, it seems that way to me. However, you will have to wait an average of 3-8 years to have one bloom. Although I have seen some posts on this forum of people's seedlings blooming in one year. It will take three bloom cycles to know the final color and shape of the flower though. The coolest thing though is that a seedling is not a variety - it is a new one that you get to name! I know Bakersfield! :D You can live there... I don't even want to live as far south as Fresno! I understand your need. When I started growing tropicals, there was no information at all on half the plants I owned. Half the reason I was on here was to share what I'd learned through trial and ERROR. Also, you have to wade through the information about tropicals growing in humid conditions, and weed that out. Puya's need most excellent drainage.... but they aren't cacti, so they'll need more water the more drainage they get. I have mine in a clay pot, one of the few plants I put in a clay pot. I have a lot of time, being disabled, but I have still found that if I don't have too many plants, I give them better care.... that's awful news to tropical lovers. :D Since you live in sub desert conditions, I'd sink your plants in the ground. Unless we have another freaky winter like last year, most of yours will survive fine outside during the winter. If you are lucky, thank you global warming, your habanero might even survive, but I thought they needed more humidity than Bakersfield could possibly provide. :D I tried growing them, but gave up when the cats dug them up.... :( I am now trying cut my water usage, cept in the tropical area of my garden. good luck! have fun! :D
