Enchanting photos from the past couple weeks

Things are beginning to slow down in my garden, although some cultivars are still blooming away. I also have a handful of plants that will have their first flowers open in the next week or two. I still have lots of bloom photos to post, so here are some blooms from the past couple weeks.

SHIPWRECK COVE - added Spring 2016 but no blooms last year. This scape was leaning over a bit, but I am glad to see a few blooms.

CAT DANCER - added Spring 2016. This plant has performed well and bud count has continued to increase. Lovely blooms!

GOLDEN COMPASS - added Fall 2015. More blooms this year.

CHARISMATIC - added Fall 2015. Did not bloom last year. Blooming on short scapes this year, but I am happy to see the blooms.

STRAWBERRY FIELDS FOREVER - added Fall 2015. Did not bloom last year and few buds this year. Nice soft pink color.

SOUTH SEAS - added May 2015. Bud count has improved this year after few blooms last year.

STRIKINGLY DRAMATIC - added Fall 2016. The first bloom did not open very well but subsequent blooms look much better.

HEAVENLY ANGEL ICE - added April 2017. Large bloom on short scape. Still nice for a new plant.

SPECIAL CANDY - added Fall 2016. Looking good this year.

ROMANIAN RENDEVOUS - added Fall 2016. Doing great with lots of blooms, especially for the first year.

Nice group. I would suspect that Heavenly Angel Ice will have taller scapes next year as it is new for you this year. Romanian Rendevous has a bright eye and edge color. Cat Dancer is one I wish I had gotten. It has a nice pink with the green. I've heard always good things about it. Strikingly Dramatic is a looker and the pencil edge.

Very nice Lori. I really like Shipwreck Cove. I've toyed with getting Cat Dancer [it's pretty and cheap] but some pics I've seen of it I loved and others I've hated, so unsure of its actual color. If it looked like yours I would get it [not that I need any more].

I wasn't going to mention any names......lol! Oh well, my boys have entered their garden into the kids competition, so I thought I may as well throw my hat into the ring as well. Well, here's a few pics from my yard. The Mock Orange has been smelling heavenly the last week or so, and I like the combo with the delphiniums. The Goat's Beard has been doing a fine job at camouflaging the unfinished deck.:) And here's my latest project, which just has a few holes here and there to fill in yet. Here's some closer shots of the island semp beds I made. (In the top left had corner of this first picture, you can see a scape on one of my daylily seedlings from last year!) It's amazing how little room you need for those semps.....I could easily fit in a couple dozen more.;0)

Thanks everyone - I'm so glad you liked the photos! pippi21-I haven't had most of these daylilies long enough to know if they'll rebloom or how tall they'll be for me. But I do know that Ballerina on Ice often puts up two scapes per fan for me. Debra - it's too bad your MW died. When I got mine last spring it was two fairly small fans and now it is still two fans - they're healthy but still not that big. Juliet

Ellie, Dani and those of you who liked Redefined Design X Blue Eyed Bandit: I didn't get up early enough to get a good photo of the second bloom on this one. But there were some exciting new developments. In addition to the ends of the petals pinching, the two side sepals were quilling, AND in the sun the flower is diamond dusted! Not much change in color though. The halo was a little better defined today with a bit more blue lavender showing. I have three other seedlings from this cross, and one of those will bloom in the next week or so. But this one, an evergreen, has the largest fans, and the scape has a W top branch with two lateral branches. Not all the buds have developed on the laterals, but I can count 14 total so far. That's the best bud count I've ever gotten on a one-year-old seedling. Bud counts tend to get better as the plant matures, so I have high hopes for this one. Ed - Wouldn't you know it. The two you like are on opposite sides of the yard. But I agree they probably would look good planted together. Casey - Dips will set seed in high temps, but tets are very, very reluctant. That's why most hybridizers in hot climates have greenhouses to get bloom earlier and dab pollen while it's cooler. Breeders that will set seed in hot temps are very much valued by hybridizers. Truely angelic is beautiful, and I don't know why I haven't gotten Siloam David Kirchhoff yet, its so pretty. I got Autumn Wood in a trade last year, I have one scape on it, but it hasen't bloomed yet. Can't wait to see it! I actually had some poly's this year too. I wonder why they do that? -Jessica

All looking very nice, Lori. Charismatic was sent as a bonus but died in a pot over winter so was interested to see your pic. Like Brad, I have also thought about Cat Dancer and yours looks great.

Those are really pretty, Lori. Your Romanian Rendevous is gorgeous. Lost mine this last winter, and that makes me sad, but yours is lovely. I also really like Charismatic and Shipwreck Cove, but Rmaonian Rendevous is my favorite.

You have a lot of pretty daylilies--that photo of Cat Dancer is terrific!! Strikingly Dramatic is just that, and Romanian Rendevous is a real looker.

All of your pictures are lovely. Romanian Rendezvous is gorgeous. I have always loved the color of Strawberry Fields Forever, but it is not a strong plant in our garden. Heavenly Angel Ice has taken its sweet time getting established for us. I love the contrast on Shipwreck Cove.
