Have you ever said 'I'm tired and I'm going in, just as soon ...'
Comments (15)... All the time. I never seem to know when to stop, even with hubby calling out the door "Time to come in now". When it's hot I pin a pillow slip with crushed ice in it around my neck. When it gets dark I turn on the outside lights, but try to come in by 10 PM so the lights don't bother the neighbors. I'd rather be outside than inside any ole' day and gardening gives me an excuse to be there. Incidentally, for insect bites Bob happened to notice that HEB brand antibiotic ointment has a topical pain reliever in it so it stops the itch of mosquito bites very nicely. Maybe other brands have it too. Well, almost time to put the rolls in the oven. My computer is right next to the kitchen so it's easy to take a little rest from cooking in that chair :-) Wishing you all a blessed Easter Sunday ......See MoreDo you get tired of constantly defending your ideas?
Comments (16)Jenk  as owner builders doing lots of new building science in an area famous for not changing... yeah, we had a lot of resistance from various subs. We found it helped to do two things. First - try not to see their questions as criticism or the sub not wanting to do it your way, but that they just may have not heard about the way you want it done. (even with the subs who really just donÂt want to do it a new way, it helps YOUR state of mind). Put it to them in those terms  "I know itÂs new to this area" (thus they are not expected to know about it) "but weÂre really set on doing it this way for these reasons." And while you may not feel like you should have to explain your reasons, you will get better work if they feel like part of the process. Trades people are not all stubborn mules against learning something new. Second  know what you are talking about  if you are vague nobody is going to take you or your ideas seriously. Graphics and visual aids are helpful if itÂs really new. When we discussed our plans to insulate our crawlspace walls (virtually unheard of in this county/state), we showed the people involved the drawings and research on the method. It took some arm twisting to get the county inspectors behind the idea but between the printed sheets and calm discussions they approved the finished work. Our HVAC people loved the idea and now they recommend it to other people. They hadnÂt heard of it before our house, but we presented in a way that they felt they didnÂt need to defend their experience. Even in the "just how you want it" stuff itÂs not always a matter of Âmy-way-itisÂ. We did two walk throughs with our electrician before he would string one wire. On both trips he would ask us, Âwhy do want this here? and Âhow about having that there?Â. This wasnÂt to discourage us from what we wanted, but to find out what our reasons were so he could make suggestions. He had wired enough houses to know what people tend to regret later, and he made some great suggestions that we went with. The stuff I was sure of I had reasons for and it didnÂt bother me to explain them to him. I hope this helps, and good luck!...See MoreIf you ever get tired of your pool....
Comments (2)Wow, Thanks, I was wandering what I was going to do with my unused indoor pool. Its sad, that wing of our home is hardly used anymore. This will give it purpose. Oh crap! I just remembered the 300 seat theater in the other wing. Oh well it was a good idea....See MoreDo you get sick 'n tired of cooking or...
Comments (19)I don't mind the cooking part, it's the decding what to cook that I am tired of. I admit that I can't cook like I used to because of increasing physical limitations. I reluctently am using more and more convience foods, which makes it much harder to adhere to the special diet, (diabetes/heart disease/high blood pressure) that we have been eating for 35 years now. It does become more difficult to find the right things to eat when these problems are suddenly dumped on you. Our diet adjustments came one at a time, thank goodness. I still sometimes get tired of reading labels and deciphering how much the carbs in this plus the fats in that are going to affect DH's blood sugar. We do eat a huge amount of vegetables. It would be rare to have a meal without at least 2 low or no carb side vegetables along with a garden salad and the main course. I find it hard to fill my very active DH up at times....See Morelily316
