I'm not crazy about summer either. I've had melanoma skin cancer so I try to stay out of the sun. I do like not having to wear so many clothes.

I hate mosquitoes and they love me. End of my summer love story.

Yes, it is June. The cold weather has been broken, and the summer temperatures have yet to peak. Its very enjoyable after a long cold winter and dreary spring. The only negative is that it tends to be a month of showers in this area, but I will accept that compared to other parts of the year. The showers keeps things moisturized and green. The threat of wildfires is low. The birds are singing and each week brings new flowers. New farm crops are growing and children go outside to play. What could be finer?

Love the fresh tomatoes, peaches, okra, squash and corn. And all the other fresh vegetables from my garden or the market. And the flowers of course. Hate the heat of August and am always ready for fall.

Love the longer days.

I thought I'd be the only Scrooge here. My favorite part of summer is the day it's gone. I HATE every second of it. Maybe as a kid I loved the freedom of riding my bike all over town, swimming at the lake, eating ice cream cones and having sleepovers. The absolute ONLY thing I like is the produce. Starting tomorrow the days are getting shorter. I LOVE winter. I can always put clothes on and in the summer I about die in the heat. I am outside more in the other seasons . I stay inside in the AC in the summer. >>PS..I'm the only one in my family who feels like this. They all love summer.

It's funny no matter what season it is I always dream of the next season. I like Summer and Fall because the lake we live on is full and the frogs sing me to sleep. I love when the heat finally leaves the air in Fall, the day it happens my son and I always comment on it. I like Winter because I love cuddling up to the fire with a good book. I love Spring because the birds come back and sing me a wake up song. I really love tomato sandwiches and ice tea in the summer and soups in the winter...aren't we all so fortunate to get a change of season every few months.

Right now is pretty nice time during summer. Warm but so nice out with a breeze.

All of it. The foods, the warmth, the extra sunlight, swimming, lemonade, homemade ice cream... All of it. From Memorial Day to Labor Day and my parents' birthdays.

I like sleeping in in the morning. love summer sunsets. That's the time of the day when the humidity lifts and possibly a breeze filters through. I love fresh produce, but don't see a whole lot of it these days.

days with intolerable temps and humidity here in NJ are just "lost" days to me. i'm generally the FIRST to be attacked by mosquitoes, so either retreat indoors or slather myself with repellent.

favorite things about summer! a perfect day at the shore. sunny but not scorching. breezy but not to point that i'm being sand-blasted. NO GREEN-HEAD FLIES! ocean temps over 70 would make a day even "perfecter"! after beach, dinner with family/friends at casual seafood restaurant. nice ending would be a "walk on the boardwalk"!

REAL NJ tomatoes, blueberries, corn on the cob, etc.

Today is my favorite day, last day of school for the students! Hooray! I will work until next Tuesday, then you wont see me here often. I will be spending my time gardening, reading novels, visiting friends that have pools or are at the lake and going to the coast for long weekends .....ahhhhhh, finally! I will say that by the time August heat hits and my brook in front of my porch dries up, I am more than ready for fall with cooler temps and I can shut off the AC and open the windows again. THAT is my favorite time of year!

I love summer on the Vineyard or in Maine - glorious sunny days, and cool nights. I HATE heat and humidity which is all I have at home.

But home makes it up to me with fabulous Heirloom tomatoes and orange flesh melons. Oh - and fresh peaches - I'm particularly fond of the ones from PA. Nothing on earth better.

Summer is just so much easier, if you want to run an errand you just go, no bundling in coats, boots, shoveling snow, worrying about falling on the ice or having a car accident. Kids can just go outside. I don't like it really hot but it is still easier than winter.

minjeeah - May I ask why you don't have any AC?

We live on the CA central coast and rarely get hot weather or that is the way it use to be. I don't want to go into the whole Global Warming issue but even the local weather man commented on how we have been breaking old high temp records for the last several years. We use to get fog all summer, which kept temps down, but it has been absent. I had lived in CA for 40 years and no one I know has AC. Even restaurants and stores don't have it.

From about 5:30 am to when the sun actually hits the garden at 6:30 or so. It's beautiful out there right before the sun hits. Fresh garden tomatoes are nice, too. Dahlias!

Going to the beach and swimming. I like the longer days too, but I also like the short days of winter. It does get really hot where I live though and that leads to electric bills that double :( Not looking forward to that at all. I don't mind the warmth of summer but when it hits over 100 it's not so cute anymore lol

I love June, right now; almost all my perennials are blooming and herbs flourishing.

We've had almost too much rain so far, but July and/or August are usually too hot and dry and the garden and I struggle. Walking the dog becomes a chore. I need to wake up earlier but I am not very good about that.

I hate the bugs! I have multiple bites, scabs, and scars below the waist from a chigger attack last week. Mosquitos like me too but chiggers are the worst! It feels too good to scratch them till they bleed. Anyone else get them? I think they got in my shoes while I was walking through tall grass with my dog. I avoid that now.

Best part for me......shrimp season...more money.

Going to the drive-in with the kids and swimming pool once a week. Sleeping in, since I haven't slept well in a couple years. and sleep best in early morning. A break from regimented schedules with four kids. Not a fan of the heat. I get depressed with hot weather if I can't get out when it's cooler and mosquitoes flock to me. Got the pup a kiddie pool and have had great laughs with her excitement.

Not anymore as there are too many rules associated with it. Can't sit in the sun without being completely covered up, can't have barbecues as they're carcinogenic, can't drink white wine as the latest study says there is too much sugar in it, can't go hiking without being completely covered up because of ticks and lyme disease, can't go on picnics without taking a fridge to guard against food poisoning and on and on it goes.

Someone took all the fun out of the lazy days of my childhood memories of summer.

I hate summer heat and humidity. I hate summer clothes. Give me a nice sweater any day. I hate the sound of lawn mowers and blowers. I hate being trapped inside in the AC. I hate my car getting as hot as an oven. I hate the crowds. I hate watering the plants, although we have had monsoons recently. I hate mosquitoes, although I love lightning bugs. I hate when kids are out of school making noise all day. I really hate summer.

Okay, I do love fresh local produce. I wish I could find a real Jersey tomato. They seem to have disappeared. Blueberries, peaches and corn -- yum!

First sweet corn and native tomatoes from the farm stand. And I always buy a can of frozen lemonade during the summer. I know it's loaded with sugar, but I treat myself once a year.

Minjeeah, did you mean heirloom tomatoes vs hybrid? Heirlooms are some of the best tasting tomatoes IMO. They may not have the same shelf-life as hybrids so you won't find them as often in grocery stores where the tomatoes are grown to look pretty and last long. For the grower some heirlooms are sometimes more susceptible to diseases so you have to keep up with that aspect.

I used to love summer, now I don't much care for it since I am alone. I will be happy to see fall.

I like the longer days. But, otherwise, give me spring or fall. I hate high heat and humidity.

Prefer autumn over summer, don't like the heat (80's & 90's mostly) but fortunately it's not humid here (Southern Colorado) and we have AC.

Favorite part is what we had last week, 50° nights and 68°-70° days. That's a perfect summer day for me. Otherwise, as long as dewpoints are in the 40s I'm pretty tolerant. Once it gets hot and humid I long for fall and winter.

I only tolerate, Fall, Winter and Spring so I can get to Summer! I feel better during that time, even with the Texas heat and humidity. Love that my kids and grands visit more often since school is out. Love also the great fruit and veggies that grow then.

When it's over! lol! I don't like the heat and humidity. My favorite temp is 55. Really. I like the cozy feeling of sweatshirts. I really dislike summer clothing and the sweat it soaks up.

It can end any day now.

Oh I LOVE summer! Because of this (I spend the rest of the year planning for, and waiting for, this).

Thanks, min. Lots of things in this garden, but mostly hostas, heucheras, and impatiens in this bed because it's shady. This is what I can see from my spot on the couch out through the sliding glass doors.
