What Can I do to Fix this Container plant mistake?
Comments (8)If the mix is 3-4 years old, there probably are no nutrients left in it. If all you did was yank the tree, and didn't empty the container & refill, there probably is a soil compaction problem too, and perhaps the roots aren't getting any oxygen. This can be quite possible, especially since you think you get enough water. A container plant can almost never be overwatered if the soilmix is good. You should be able to see the water coming out the bottom. I grow more than half my tomatoes & peppers in 4 & 5 gallon buckets, and the years I don't remove/ammend/refill my containers, plant growth and production SUFFER GREATLY. Ands I water 2x a day if it didn't rain, more than 2L each time. You need to ammend the soilmix yearly, at least with compost or aged manure. I remix my containers with 30-50% compost. Also, because of frequent waterings, you need to fertilize regularly. Hope this helps....See MoreAny way to fix this? We allotted a 48' hood over 36' rangetop
Comments (8)There is a person that participates often in hood threads who has pointed out that the vapor column rising from a skillet spreads as it rises. The outward angle of spread is said to be about 7 degrees. Simple geometry will show that for a 30" high hood the spread is about 3.6", so an extra 3" on either side will catch most of this column even though is spreads. However, the thing to watch is the depth. 24" deep hoods do not usually have a capture depth of 24". The front 3 to 6 inches of most hooks is taken up by lights and switches, leaving the front burners where most high temperature cooking takes place woefully under covered even ignoring the extra spread of the rising vapor column. Side to side however is generally ok as most hoods lose only about one half to one inch on each side due to sheet metal trim. If you are ultra conservative, you could say that side to side my 36" range requires 7" total extra hood width to account for vapor column spread on each side, meaning I need 43" of open capture width and since I might lose 2" of width due to edge trim on the sides a 42" hood is effectively 40" wide and not quite adequate. On the other hand a 48" hood gives 46" of effective capture width and will cover the rangetop just fine. Personally I think the depth issue is far more critical than a couple of inches on the edges....See MoreAre there any fixed wall mounts better than others?
Comments (7)Attaching cords and cable usually isn't a problem if it's a TV that can be mounted. Of all the TV's we've installed the connections are located so the wiring is easily accessible and the gap between the wall and TV has enough room for any wires. The only part of the TV that is actually against the wall is the bottom edge. I think you'll find the depth of frame on the wall and the mounting frame on the TV is enough for cords/cables. When I checked the Walmart site, it shows the $10 mount has 1.5" space from the wall. That mount should work, but try to hit 2 studs. Here is a link that might be useful: TV mount...See MoreAny way to fix this mess?
Comments (8)"Did you brush the opposite way on days 3 and 4? You get this effect with linen wallpaper sometimes when you flip every other sheet." I think that's it ... whether you go top to bottom or side to side first makes a difference in how the light is reflected from the ridges in the glaze, so you get the banding. You see it to a lesser extend even with rolled-on paint, which is why professionals finish a section by rolling top to bottom on the wall "I thought I was getting a steel blue-gray for the darker color which was from the same swatch as my light blue but it turns out to be more green in color." The colors on a swatch are NOT always just lighter and darker tones of a single hue ... they can be very different in undertones. If you like the color, but not the banding, just paint over it with a clear matte-finish topcoat. It will decrease the banding but probably Fixing the color? Get a chunk of drywall to test it on, and reproduce the paint job you did, including the linen glaze and the different direction boundaries. I'd try another glaze - a very pale clean blue-grey (check the color formula - you want black and blue in it, nothing else) or the original pale blue, with a linen look, making the panels cross over the boundaries of the first ones, being VERY careful to run the strokes in the same direction. You will get some show-through from the lower layers. Or ... solid steel grey, as your husband suggests, would cover it up completely....See MoreLynn-in-TX-Z8b- Austin Area/Hill Country
