How to remove a bathroom mirror
Comments (5)Good advice from the others. I tape the front, then I'll use a wood shim near the top to separate the mirror out from the wall a bit. Once I get separation I then slide a piece of piano wire behind the top of the mirror and pull it down. It cuts through the mastic. Prior to getting the wire too far down behind the mirror, I run a couple of long strips of tape from the top of the mirror up onto the wall above the mirror. That prevents the mirror from "tipping out" and falling on me as I get the wire down towards the bottom of the mirror. Good to do if you don't have a partner to help. Warming the mirror mastic with a hair dryer can help, but I usually just pull the wire through with brute force. There are usually several dollops of mastic use to hold the mirror in place. But how do most people remove them? Tape and then they smash them out. Do be careful....See MoreBathroom Decor Help! Where Do I Place Artwork or Mirror
Comments (3)I would look for art that is large and squarish for just over the tub portion. Then i would find a shelf or two of some kind to go over the toilet. not an ugly cabinet, but something that will fill the space but not compete with the art. Comments (26)In the picture, black is the current layout. Green is the change if only shower was made bigger and one door would be eliminated. Red is a complet demo, removing the wall section between two toilets. All the water lines from upstairs are in the section of the wall that is between two toilets so removing this wall would require a major move of water lines to the side and there would have to be a section of wall kept behind new toilet and vanity. The door from master would have to be framed and move to the left as a pocket or barn door. The drowing is disproportionate. It is all very cramped in there Current shower is only 26"x26". But may be replacing vanity for a wall hung vanity in the larger bathroom would change the feel. It will all have to be torn down and replaced including removing subfloors as they are rotten. So either remodel will be a lot of work. What should we do?...See Morehow many light fixtures over large vanity mirror in bathroom?
Comments (6)A double light over each sink should be sufficient with a window and assuming the shower is directly across from the vanity and that is the extent of the room. Other options are three single sconces mounted on the mirror and an over head light to give more light to the shower. I have a four-light over a 60" vanity in a 5x11 windowless room. The vanity area is well-lit. The shower at the end of the room is a little more shadowed but not enough to make showering and cleaning an issue....See MoreJoseph Corlett, LLC
