Would these pendants work for my kitchen?
Here is my kitchen. I have brass cabinet pulls/knobs and chrome faucets (2 more going in where it is marked in pink). My island is 96 x 45. Please ignore black barstools. They are temporary:
In front of the side sink/built in hutch, I have a dining room area. There will be a walnut built in seat that spans the wall under the window and a walnut rectangular table in front of it (apologize for all the stuff there):
I would like to do a brass pendant of some sort. I saw this kitchen that had these pretty brass domes from Circa. They come in 21" and 12":
Do you think this lighting setup would work in my kitchen? My ceiling height is 8 feet and the example kitchen doesn't seem to have v high ceilings either. I'd do 2 of the 21" domes over the island and 1 of the 21" over the dining table. Over the island, the domes would hang 28" from the countertop, if I were to allow for the minimum wire length of 12" and the dome height of 19".
If not, can you recommend another light?I'm hoping to get some high impact with the lights, since my kitchen is otherwise subtle, and lights are easy to change with trends. I also like the white outside, brass inside cones below but they are too big for my ceilings and I was thinking I need something with more width than height. But it looks very cool when they are off (the brass shines), and when they are on (the brass shines even more!). I don't want the light to be visually busy (like lots of little bars and details), but have impact.

The only thing that bothered me about these valances is that they are not lined but I thought maybe I could take them to our drycleaners & see if the seamstress could line them for me. brutuses- Thank you for your honesty. I DO appreciate it. Matching colors is something I am the very worst at & I do not know what color to add to this kitchen. I would say my taste is pretty traditional. beachrose- I wish I could sew, then I would make the valance I REALLY want, this one: dilly dally- I do like the above style, but I'll just have to find something temporarily until I spend more money on custom valances. Comments (16)Dear Chocolatebunny, I've been shopping for laminate also. I agree, I prefer quartz, but too darn much money. The cheapest granite I can find here in Ohio is still more than twice as much as laminate, plus there are the extra fees involved with the installation. Your cabinets are so much prettier than mine - mine are oak, so I do have to be careful to avoid a busy laminate. The only 180fx I liked was the Olivine River. It echoes the grey/green in your Willowstone but is a larger pattern. It also has some brown/black specks. I think it would look nice, although not sure how it would look with your paint color. Some others that would look nice are Wilsonart's Canyon Passage, Deepstar Bronze and Deepstar Agate, and I think the Milano Amber would look nice also. Deepstar Jade is a more colorful green with less gray. It would tie in with your fireplace wall. You can get 8x10 samples from Wilsonart for $1. It's really worth it to get some larger samples. They also have 3x5s. Your kitchen has a lot going for it with your lovely cabinets, flooring and windows. My 25 year old laminate countertops have been nearly indestructible, and so easy to take care of. Comments (21)mtnrdredux - I'd love to see your floors! Love the dark, but they do show every speck of dust, so I might lean towards a medium stain if I ever do these floors again. It's funny, whenever I drop something on my floors and see the new dent I've created, I just shrug my shoulders and tell myself it adds character. A few times we've had to sand and apply more stain and tung oil when I dropped something sharp enough to chip the wood. I couldn't imagine being worried about keeping my floors in pristine condition with how clumsy I am. justgotabme - I'm not sure about trying to age the cabinets. They have a really heavy grain, very different from my pine table, and the natural color tends towards yellow, not brown. What if I end up with a hot mess! I guess then it would at least be easier to convince DH to replace them :) If the uppers weren't arched, I would paint and lightly glaze without a second thought....See MoreWould these work with my island?
