TOMATOES:What does inderterminate/semiderminate mean
Comments (4)Smittee, Before you buy any, why don't you check in here. Many people will have seeds to trade or just share. For example, I bought one variety - Arkansas Traveler _ and shared them with several other Gardenwebbers who sent me a bunch of other varieties. Each seed packet gives you enough to plant the entire south forty, and if you're like me and don't have a south forty, it's nice to trade those extras. I have some costoluto extras, if those interest you, for example. I also have some Campbells and some Legend hybrids, I think. Really, in this community, I'm convinced you should never buy more than one seed packet of tomatoes and just trade your extras for all you want. I'm growing 16 different varieties this year, and all I bought was costoluto and Arkansas Traveler. Send me an email and I'll put some costoluto and whatever else I have available in the mail, no trade necessary, to get you started. Comments (10)any hosta can "sport" - but JOTN seems particularly prone to it. Even the one on the cover of the AHS Hosta Journal an issue or three ago had some uneveness. Don't blame this on tissue culturing... once it is cultured, it is just another hosta division... Kevin Walek chose this sport from his own Dee's Golden Jewel BECAUSE it had uneven margins and streakiness. Some streaked plants are very stable... Kisuji, Swirls, for example, stay streaky for years without care. Others will try to stablize to a solid color or an edge or center varieagation. Sea Prize tends to solid green... Savannah Supreme tends toward a light margin (Savannah), Galaxy will be tend toward all dark green. The only way to keep streakers unstable and streaky when they want to stabilize is to divide them and grow the streaky divisions separately. This is especially important because the stabilized forms tend to be stronger and to eventually take over the whole plant. Ken's experience with JOTN is that it will keep going to all yellow - basically back to its parent. Mine this year is about halfway there... I'll be chopping it up next year......See MoreRuntime Error.......what does this mean?
Comments (4)It'll probably be the same. I'm hoping that in CCleaner under Tools/ Startup, you'll be able to spot any programs that you don't need running at startup and delete those entries. Bacisally all you really need are your anti-virus and firewall. There are more advanced things a person can do like using the System Configuration Utility by clicking your start button/ run/ and type msconfig and choose Selective Startup and uncheck load startup items or Diagnostic Startup, but for now, might as well keep it simple. If you haven't had this problem for very long, possibly a system restore to an earlier time would fix this. Does the error mention anything about "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library Runtime Error. The problem could be something as simple as google toolbar or yahoo toolbar if you have either....See MoreWhat does % really mean in the long run?
Comments (7)The charts have been updated. You can ask your pediatrician for information about the chart they use (when was it put into use for example, to see if it's recent). Sometimes, maybe most of the time people do stay on their growth lines into adulthood. Sometimes they don't for no good reason at all, or at least for no known reason. Babies who have been small, and who have been small as children can sprout up tall with the changes of puberty. Some can go the other way, as if they just started out fast and caught up to themselves in adolescence and adulthood. Because I've seen both of those happen (plus a lot of people who seemed to maintain their same percentiles) I wouldn't plan on anything too much. The percentiles are mainly to catch problems. Babies can't give detailed verbal information about their symptoms. Tracking their head circumference can be the only way to catch some scary problems early. Tracking their height and weight percentiles can be the only way to catch or even know to look for some metabolic problems or things that can cause a 'failure to thrive' which is a major symptom. The cdc charts were revised in 2000. Prior to that they were dated from 1977 and tended to be more representative of formula-fed babies. These page address can give up to date information. The first address is to the 'background' page which explains the differences and how the 2000 charts are different. The second page has links to those updated clinical charts. They appear to be printable and in pdf format. http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/about/major/nhanes/growthcharts/background.htm http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/about/major/nhanes/growthcharts/clinical_charts.htm This page address has a kind of intermediate chart set for breastfed infants. They were prepared in 1994 and is based on (only) 226 breastfed infants who did not have any solids before 4 months of age. These are only age/length and age/weight charts. (The units are weight in kilograms, length in centimeters, and age in months). http://www.promom.org/bf_info/growth.html make sure your pediatrician is using the most up to date charts...See More- 9 years agolast modified: 9 years ago
