Seedling group shot
Comments (10)Hey Kirk, nice kids you got there. I had to round up mine for this group shot because they are all over. Last April I planted about 3 of the runts in the ground, just to see what they will do. But they have been covered entirely by weeds, I'll have to look for them this weekend lol These are 1 to 1.5 years old. They are all short because I whack their heads off when they get uppity. This is a mixture of obesum and arabicum--it just takes a closer look to tell the difference because some idiot (me) forgot to label them when they were repotted. Pagan p.s. photo includes a Murraya paniculata in the background as well as two pots of those temple things. This post was edited by fakechuchi on Wed, Jul 23, 14 at 21:34...See MoreGroup Shot
Comments (7)hi mo, glad to hear you've got it under control. i have to admit to only having problems with mealies, so i don't know what to tell you! if it were me, i'd probably drench again when it dries out a little. the one in the front is just a little unnamed plant i picked up from a local nursery. 'Stained Glass' is actually in the top right corner of that same tray. my last place didn't have optimal light, so the rich red color is no more. :( i think the red in 'Stained Glass' is one of the best of the rexes--it's much deeper and sparklier (heh. i bet that's not a word) than the one in the foreground. -ming...See MoreGroup Shots Thursday
Comments (11)Julie- I have had Purple Coneflowers around the garden for years. They do seed in the oddest places sometimes but its not a big deal to pull them up move them if its not what I want. I don't dead head as first they attract butterflies with the flowers and then as soon as the Purple Coneflowers set seed, the Goldfinches come and eat on them. The garden here is very much for attracting backyard songbirds, butterflies, hummingbirds and bees. In fact right in back of the daylily plateu in the backyard is another smaller shelf in which I plant sunflowers. Each end of that little tier has a butterfly bush and then sunflowers in the middle going along in a row. I started the sunflowers there last year after I had those garden beds made as I figgured I needed to do something there but it worked out so well that its been picked as the plant sunflowers here spot forever. The goldfinches sure do love to come and eat the sunflowers, even before the seeds are fully ripe. In the picture of GRACE LIKE RAIN that I had above the daisey like things are cosmos and the yellow buds and closed flowers are 4 O'Clocks. They might look funny as the flowers open late in the day and this picture was taken too early for them to be open....See MoreSome group shots
Comments (8)Hi Char, Yes, that's an azalea in the background! There are various shades of blooms - lighter pink, fuschia and white. I planted about 5 really small azaleas a couple of years ago between the larger ones that I got for like 35 cents each at Home Depot, and they have blooms for the first time this year :-) Here's a pic from far off showing the whole bed:...See Morejosephines167 z5 ON Canada
