How do you get a pic to upload?

When you click in the dialogue box to type your comment a group of icons will appear along the bottom. One is a camera with the word photo beside it. Click on that and in the pop-up window that comes up just navigate to where the photo is in your computer. Select the photo and click on "open". The photo then loads up.

TropicBreezent, That is exactly what I did on my IMAC but it wouldn't upload for some reason.

I have a PC running on Windows 7 but I thought it should work just the same for MACs.

Don't know why. When I pull up the pic it says choose file not open file. Should still upload. Beyond my tech skills.

Since I can't post my pic, the link above in the garden forum shows a pic of the exact same problem my frond stems are showing.

Is the splotching on all the fronds or just the old ones? Or is it just on the new fronds?

It is predominantly on the older fronds but I can see some small splotches on the new fronds coming out.

It could be lack of nutrients. That tends to be more apparent in older fronds, as they get old the plant starts to scavenge nutrients for the newer growth. If you're in your growing season you could give it some palm fertiliser, or even try some Magnesium sulphate (Epsom Salts). Then just watch how the new fronds are as they emerge. Damage in fronds usually remains so the older ones won't give you any indication as to whether the situation is improving.

Tropicbreezent, can you try and help the guy on the thread about windmill palm root rot? See if my advice was any good? I said about magnesium and it may not be what I should've said, I was guessing, you seem to know your stuff.

Poaky1, I'm no expert. Tropicbreezant seems to be more knowledgeable. I think manganese is more important for palms and cyads than magnesium, and well draining soil.

All these elements have a role to play in plants even if they only need to be present in minute amounts. You can look up charts on what plant leaves look like when suffering deficiencies. Most of these can be corrected just by adding correct fertilisers. But sometimes high or low pH can affect take up of elements even though there's plenty present in the soil. Sometimes an over abundance of one element can prevent the uptake of others. It's all a balancing act.

I don't know about being "more knowledgeable". Know about some things, but don't know about a lot of others. You know the old definition of "expert"?

"X" = unknown quantity

"spurt" = a drip under pressure.

I would've never though about manganese. I know that different palms like different soils too. My Windmill palm has all brown fronds, so it is likely dead. But, I may try a Trachy princeps, which I saw grow on limestone cliffs, so I am thinking dolomitic limestone added to the soil in the raised bed, it will have magnesium in the lime, but, I am not sure about other nutreints/elements, so I may get a bag of palm fert from online. The pic above is my windmill palm, it's worse now. If anyone has any ideas of the prob. I just got it last month. i watered every day, theres big drainage holes in the pot. I came bareroot.

Sounds okay about the drainage holes, but what's the soil like? It looks like an over watering problem, meaning the soil might be too water retentive.

My Needle palm is in the same soil and happy, I even mulched the Needle palm. They may like lottsa water though.
