Who installed your appliances? Kitchen GC or appliance dealer?
Comments (7)Appliance dealer and the guy they sent knew everything about every appliance. He gave tips about using the GE Monogram oven and GE Monogram induction cooktop, the Miele dishwasher and the F/P dishwasher drawer. He even came back on the weekend when we discovered during the installation that the electrician had not wired properly for the induction cooktop and the installation had to be delayed until the electrician fixed the wiring. I know we probably lucked into a real gem but in general I would go with someone who did this every day for a living rather than someone who did this as part of a larger and more diversified job. Comments (11)We hung our wall cabinets first, then the base. It was easier to hang the wall cabinets without the bases in the way. In hindsight, I wish we had installed the hood while we were doing the top cabinets just because it would have made it easier. It was a tight fit. I actually ended up removing the cabinet next to it to make installation easier, then rehung the cabinet. I would NOT install the range though. It seems like if you install the cabinet-range-cabinet that there exists a possibility that it may be difficult to get the range back out at a later date. I'd leave the space as recommended by the range mfg and install the range later....See MoreSub Zero / Wolf appliance install GC or certified appliance service?
Comments (4)The advantage to having Wolf's certified installers do the install is that it adds an additional year to your warranty. At least, that was the case a couple of years ago. Having someone else do the install does not void the warranty. We installed our own range and it was still covered (but we didn't get the extra year). Their customer service department is extremely helpful; give them a call to find out if the additional warranty still applies....See MoreSub Zero / Wolf appliance instal -- GC or certified appliance service?
Comments (1)You do not have to use the official installers, but I believe that you still get an extra year of warranty if you use Wolf installers (call Wolf to confirm that the extra year still exists). The Wolf installers in my area could not get to me before Thanksgiving, so they suggested that my GC install the appliances, then after Thanksgiving, the Wolf/SZ installers would came and checked the installations at their hourly rate. They tweaked some things, installed the antitip blocking for the large fridge, and gave me a tour of the appliances which was very helpful. Ended up being about half the price of the full installation. They also got me the extra year of warranty. You could call your local official installers to ask if they would do that....See Morekazmom
