Kenmore microwave... won't get hot?!!
Comments (6)So when Consumer's Guide recommends the particular Kenmore model number, it can be by any one of those brands under the Kenmore label? But then I'd assume that Kenmore model recommended was one of those... we have had one of the Sharp brand microwaves before & was satisfied with that one. Odd, that when experimenting with this problem yesterday, a cup of coffee was heated to the regular hot temp but any food on a plate UNDER the plastic shield/cover (used to prevent splashes inside the microwave) would not get hot- just a bit warm! Little by little we played with different things & think (!) that the cover has gotten heated so often & surface now prevents things under it to get hot! Going to get a new cover to see if that makes a difference... will update this later to see if that may be a simple problem!!...See MoreHelp - Microwave/convection oven doesn't fit!
Comments (4)I assume that the MW is on a shelf that is the bottom of that cabinet, right? How about putting a fan blowing down and out from the back of the cabinet? I think if you look for a cooling fan in an electronics catalogue, you will find one you can install there. If you draw the air out from behind and below the MW, fresh, cooler air will be drawn in from the smaller spaces around the MW. This could work. They make laptop tables/trays with these fans. Comments (51)@slogan3561 The cotton on the market today is fine. We have Mele washers and whites come out white. Keeping them white means you need to have the following: 1. If your water is hard (lots of minerals) a water softener should be used. 2. Heavily soiled whites should be pre-treated and soaked to loosen soil before the main wash. Use the washers soak cycle or a pre-wash. 3. A good detergent with the proper amount. Not the cheapest thing you find on sale. 4. A good Oxygen bleach. Make sure to use a water temp of 140F (60C) or higher to get the maximum effect from the oxygen bleach. If you have a clothes line, use it. The UV light from the sun works great to bleach whites and it's free! Many of today's washers are not built with the consumer in mind. They are built to get the maximum rebate from the government for their eco-friendliness....See MoreLooking for dinnerware that doesn't get grey cutlery marks
Comments (63)I’ve used Gorham Melonbud 18/10 flatware for the last 26 years. It has left TONS of gray marks on our 1) expensive Mikasa stoneware, 2) Target Threshold porcelain, and now 3) Mikasa bone china. The only surface this 18/10 flatware hasn’t destroyed is a newer set of 4 Target Threshold porcelain salad plates that I bought to replace some of the original set that broke. Got others in that style thinking I’d found the perfect match … nope, only those 4 can defend against the Melonbud. I’m giving up. It must be the flatware but that goes against everything out there that says 18/10 is the “hardest” and shouldn’t leave marks. Might switch to plastic, lol. ;0)...See Morefriedajune
