Comments (4)I cant comment as to the monogram, but we have had the KA in for 3 months and have no major complaints. Its been fairly quiet. The water on the door comes out through a filter and it tastes good enough, that I have considered getting rid of the bottled water delivery. We dont use tons of ice, but the icemaker capacity is very large compared to my last kenmore. I paid about 5500 and couldn't justify spending 7000-12000 on the sz even though the one w/the glass door looks amazing. As to the lights looking cheap, I dont know what the lights should look like, but throw a few items into the fridge and I dont think you'll notice at all. My only complaint was on the door shelves for the fridge side. The fronts come up fairly high and items dont come out as easily as I would like, but I have gotten used to it. Good luck....See MoreJenn-Air French Door v. SubZero French door refrigerator
Comments (9)Thanks for your input. A fully integrated refrigerator allows the doors of the refrigerator to be completely flush with the cabinets next to it. The hinges allow the door to fold into the cabinet, rather than outside it. A counter depth refrigerator will stick out a couple of inches, and even if panel ready, will still show an inch or 2 of the sides of the refrigerator. I've even been told counter depth panel ready will show a bit of metal on the front door. It has to do with the door hinges. I didn't think there was a difference between built-in and fully integrated, but I could be wrong. My issue with SZ is the lack of split shelves, which we occasionally use to stand taller items like opened wine bottles or pots of soup. We are a family of four, with 2 boys 10,12 who are definitely hitting growth spurts! The SZ FD also only comes in 36" vs JAN 42", so there is smaller capacity. I'm wondering if we shouldn't just go with panel ready counter depth so we have more brand options and see if we can customize the cabinets to hide the sides. Any thoughts , has anyone done? _______________________________...See MoreNew Sub-Zero Refrigerator uses NASA Technology to scrub air
Comments (2)Nice , but it seems to me there are going to be design issues with the new generation because of the new hinges and the door opening arc , and also that they will be a retrofit nightmare in some instances....See More48' built-in: Jenn-Air or Kitchenaid?
Comments (1)We bought the 48" Jenn-air (built in & paneled) over 3 years ago. We were originally looking to buy an SZ, but the inside of the Jenn-air, the way it is lit, the digital readouts for not just one but 3 different storage areas in the fridge, one "variable Speed" compressor, instead of the 2 SZ "conventional on/off compressors", along with a consumer Report rating of # 1 for reliability, won us over to Jenn-air. SZ was getting zinged pretty bad for reliability bout 3 years ago: I have several; posts up so no need repeating that. Well 2009 is here and things have not changed. Go here to see the latest Reliability ratings as well as user ratings (No it's not Consumer Reports)--we "Know they can't be right about SZ's. CR has chimed in for 2009 (for those of you) who at least like to use that as additional inputs on making a wise buying decision. CR says: OVERVIEW:The Jenn Air JS42FWD[W] has received one of Consumer Reports highest overall ratings. It's definitely a consumer favorite both for its gorgeous built in design and its spacious capacity and well designed interior. The Jenn Air refrigerators are extremely reliable and an exceptional list of unique features. Definitely a model to consider, especially if you're in the market for a built in unit. We did not want the ice thru the door or crushed ice, as on our previous GE the ice crusher didnt even last a year. I would check CR, Epinions, This site, The site I referenced above to find out anything I can about Jenn-air's Icemaker/crusher or any other fridge you are considering---so far I haven't read a lotta good things about any thru the door ice makers. Anyway the Fridge has been trouble free for over 3 years now. Good Luck!! Gary...See MoreJan Heginbotham
