By any chance...did your computer get updated to Win 10 from a previous version? This sounds very like a situation wherein your sound card or onboard sound is sometimes being recognized and later not recognized by Win 10...maybe because the driver you have is old or not fully compatible with Win 10. It would be interesting to know whether or not your sound is still operational whenever the "unplugged" message comes along. Just a shot in the dark.

This is a new desktop that came with Win 10. I listen to net radio on Windows Media all day. The popups have no effect on my sound that I have noticed.

Yes, there was a yellow triangle over "Echo", whatever that is. Windows offered to fix it and I agreed. Will see if this changes anything.

That may Temporarily fix your problem, but once Windows 10 Updates again you might be right back to the same problem. I hope it proves me wrong and does fix the problem for good.

I was just trying to figure out what the Echo is. Never seen Echo in this list and the Amazon Alexa Echo is a common problem in pairing to computers. Anyway, hope the fix continues to work. You'll know for sure when the Windows Updates come thru!

bugs, it turns out the echo was an unrelated problem with a USB storage device. I am still getting the Realtek pop up - well, just once so far today.

1. Go to the Notification Area (Lower Right of Taskbar).
2. Click on the All Settings Button
3. Click on Updates and Security
4. In the Middle Portion of that window click on Update History
5. Search your Update History to see if a Driver for the Realtek Sound has been downloaded and Installed within the last day or two!

bugs, I checked. No Realtek in the updates. I did find that Office XP Service Pack 3 has failed to update on a once daily basis.

Any way you could take a screenshot and post it here? It might not say anything about Realtek. I can't tell you exactly what to look for and looking at it myself, well maybe I might be able to find something!

As for the Office XP, don't think Office XP is being supported any longer (that's pretty old). I'd be surprised if there really is an update available for Office XP.

Then I'd probably just try to disable the notifications/popups.

Have you looked in your Control Panel for "Realtek HD Audio Manager"? (Or if you have the Realtek icon in your notification area, right-click it and select "Sound Manager")

If so, once the manager comes up, you might see a yellow folder toward the upper right corner. If you see it, click it. You might see something similar to this:

That's all I have on my older Acer which just has basic stereo but you might have more tabs (front speakers, rear speakers, microphones, whatever) to look under.

Well, it looks like the auto pop up notice has been disabled. Turns out there is a RealTech icon in the notification area. We will see.

Sorry, I've been trying to help you in the Wrong Area. From your description, I thought the pop-ups you were receiving were in the Notification Area of Windows 10, not the actual Realtek HD Audio Manager.
