Comments (45)Bus driver... I only posted again because someone else posted and asked me if the situation had been resolved as they are having a similar issue. I'm not here just to whine or complain but in hopes that someone else might be helped too. I did actually post and say that I purchased the voltmeter you recommended and observed some readings, but I did not notice any fluctuations (got tired of looking at a voltmeter when I really don't know what's going on with it) and eventually went to the head general contractor who built our home and told him that we need to get a second opinion on the matter. I hired him to build our home and take care of this kind of stuff and I don't feel I should be the one sitting around trying to figure out what's wrong. So he started getting actively involved and is now taking care of the situation. I was just posting an update and thought I'd show the videos that I took for him as well in case it helped clarify if the other person is having the same problems. I do appreciate the help I've received here and I'm sorry that my multiple posts have bothered you. Feel free to click the "no longer receive notifications" button and you won't be bothered any longer....See MoreHelp with coordinating DR light for this pendant?
Comments (17)Autumn, I think the suggestion that you look at searches of your lighting perameters on several different sites and pick out what you like, what you instinctively react to, it'll help you make your decisions. If you open a Pinterest account you can set up a board for lighting, then add the PinIt icon to your tool bar. Then start searching the lighting stores online, and everytime you see something you find interesting Pin It. Even if it's way out there, so long as it fits into your budget and size perameters, Pin It. Then go to your pin board and you'll have all the choices you like in one place. At that point you can start by eliminating the ones that don't appeal upon second glance. The nice thing about the Pinterest is that if you click once you stay in Pinterest, if you click twice it takes you to the original website so you don't need to worry about trying to remember where you found something. It's easy to go through literally thousands of lighting choices in a couple of hours that way. Ask me how I know, :-) Then once you narrow it down to a few, if you're not feeling confident you can come here and ask opinions. I did that too, and ended up changing out my entry light, my powder room light and my kitchen pendants. But I'm really happy with the end result. Comments (1)If the current perimeter wall is in good condition, I actually think I would first consider seeing if the orange vertical stone could be stained gray and, if so, I would forego the expense of removing the perimeter wall and instead invest in creating an amazing modern landscaping design....See MoreLighting throughout house
Comments (40)Thanks for the details. I would still say that for inside lighting you could do whatever will go with your other choices. After all, even a family that's lived in the same craftsman house since it was built is likely to have decided to update with new, higher-wattage lighting in the 50s or 60s when it was just an old house and not anything sacred. I'd try to respect permanent items as much as possible, and outside lighting should match the style, but in your situation I would just look for interior fixtures that I thought went well, at least for now....See Moremizsusan
