Plumbing from slab to basement

erasistible

I have a desire to move my kitchen to another room. The room is constructed so that half is on a basement and the other half is on a slab foundation. Unfortunately, (and of course) I want the kitchen to be on the slab part. Would it be possible and a huge deal to create plumbing in the slab and let it connect to the other plumbing in the basement? Would it terribly expensive? What things would I need to consider?

As usual, my husband thinks my idea is outlandish but I know that people move plumbing every day.
