Odd story about Miele induction repair

This may be a case of playing telephone. I had the story from someone who was there, but not a principal in the story and doesn't actually cook in that kitchen. It's a new kitchen, maybe a year old, still under warranty. We had previously talked about how the Miele DW wasn't doing something right, and I told her that I knew it should work and might need to be checked by a tech. Sure enough, the tech came and fixed it.

There was then an issue which I hadn't heard about with the induction cooktop. The tech told the one who cooks that the electronic board needed to be replaced because she had been been banging the pots on it. I haven't seen her cook, but that didn't sound right to the observer to told me about it. Then, when he replaced the board, it worked differently. I think he even said that it was a different one, like from a different model.

Does any of this sound right? It sounds really odd to me...
