June, 2014 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (17)Sharon... I really like your star pattern...the colors against the white are perfect. I'm glad the easy angle works for you...I can't figure out any other way to make those HST. Theresa...Congratulations on 60 years! Awesome....you had to be a child bride!!! Donna....I get wanting to veg during the week...but I do go to my sewing room just about every day...if only to fold some wayward fabric in the stash! Sandra....your June goals ....now that's a long list! My goal this month are/were a bust. I started and finished a quilt top for my niece. She picked out the fabric and I started sewing from there...it's just so darn UGLY I can't give it to her with a straight face. Luckily, there is enough fabric remaining to make another lap size quilt (coupled with some fabric from the stash), so my 4th of July weekend will be sewing another top. Learned my lesson...going with a tried and true pattern that I know will work! Happy sewing everyone! V....See MoreJune, 2015 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (12)Only a few more hours and it will be July....WOW! That means we can have new goals........lololol DD's 50th BD quilt is still a WIP but the top half is all together and half of the bottom half. Zelda is coming along nicely and just have to sew some of the horizontal rows together for the last block called Red Darknut. The comfort quilt for my sister-in-law is in the process of being quilted, but it's all being put away as one car load of kids are planning on arriving tomorrow and another car load on Thursday. Then the hoopla for DH's 80th BD will begin. Late night card games, a seafood night (usually Friday), a day at the beach and whatever else they can come up with. Sure am looking forward to seeing them and giving hugs but know DH and I will both be exhausted by the time they all leave on Sunday. That's ok......we don't have anything we have to do so will spend our days napping. :-)...See MoreJanuary, 2017 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (12)Sharon, I'm so glad you've been able to sew! Beth, my DH does pressure cleaning and between holidays and bad weather, he has not worked much for quite a while. I was asking him the other day how he liked being "semi-retired"! I finished all the units for the Quiltville mystery and have put it away for now. Due to shoulder injury on Jan. 9 I haven't been able to machine sew, so I've done a bit of hand sewing and re-framed several cross stitch pieces. At least it got some small projects out of the closet! Hopefully my shoulder will be better soon so I can machine sew again. Donna...See MoreNovember, 2017 Quilting/Sewing Goals
Comments (4)I'm not so sure about setting a goal about finishing it, but I do want to get as much as possible done on this new project I just started. It's called "Starry Night Squaredance" designed by Wendy Sheppard. I saw it in the Better Homes and Gardens Quilt magazine and the pattern is at RJR Fabrics. I am so glad that I really read all the instructions closely before starting it. The cutting instructions were correct but when I got into reading the piecing instructions something was different - it was saying sew the 2 inch squares to the 4 inch rectangles and the cutting instructions said cut all the squares 2 1/2 inches. So I suspected that the instructions were in err but I wanted to make sure I didn't miss something so I emailed the designer. She got in touch with RJR and it was an error and they corrected their instructions online. I've included a link to the pattern but the actual photo of the quilt in the magazine is really nice. I wanted to make it instantly. Starry Night Squaredance...See Moreloisflan
