the difference b/w genetically engineered food and hybridized is that one is pollinated ( artificially or naturally) and the other is a man manipulated genome. As we are technially dealing with a "black box (although we know more all the time) we don't know the impact of maniputlating the genome. The main concern is losing diversification and, hence, lack of robustness of the genteic pool. The stated fear of gentically engineered food is that, if the the ge plants produce fertile seeds, they could overtake other types and then the diversity might decline (and make the crops more susceptible to disease). The Monsanto group said that they made sure they had made geneticllay engineered foods that would produce sterile seeds but some information suggests this is not true. The main beauty of heirlooms is that they continue to maintain genetic diversity. Many heirloom varieties are not popular with commercial growers because they do not ship well or they have a short shelf life-taste has been bred out in favor of tough skins, etc. As far as the gene implantng goes, there is s "trout" gene that has been used in plants for its antifreeze properties. You can take animal genes and use them in plant genomes-its just dna-no real big deal. just a cuopla introns differnece b/w us and the apes afterall. I think the only concern is that with our lack of understanding for the nuances of the entire genome, if we excise certain exxon or non-important dna in favor of expressing some aspect that makes the plant drought resisitant, we may lose some subtle but significant information

This was so much information! Thank you! I want to pull out what I found to be the most interesting and post it on it's own. "Just as the body was formed and operates on a priority basis, so it heals on a priority basis. This means that the most important parts of the body get the healing attention before the less vital tissues. We can't force the body to place its healing priority on weight loss when in fact the liver is about to die, for example. The liver is more important to your body than the extra pounds. So all the energies of the body go to heal the liver and weight loss will stop. The body will not compromise what health and vitality it does have in one part of the body to bring about healing in another. In other words, the body will not "rob Peter to pay Paul." So you may be eating nutritionally and exercising and you start out losing some weight. But then all of a sudden, you become stuck at a certain weight -- the needle on the scale won't budge anymore. The body is rejoicing on the inside and saying things like, "You know, we have all this extra energy now because Mr. Doughnut here has decided to start eating right and exercising -- let's take some of our new available energy and start the healing process on his congested liver!" So the body will take all the available energy and channel it into the liver. As a result the weight loss stops. The body will NOT take away any energy needed for daily activities and maintenance. It will only take what is left over to start the healing process. It's my belief that the body does not completely heal one part before moving on to the next item on its priority list. Rather, it heals a part to the degree that it is no longer a priority. At that point the healing attention is shifted to the part of the body that is now in most need of repair. In the above example, once the liver has been cleansed somewhat, the body will refocus its attention on other areas... perhaps back to weight loss. During my weight loss period, I would hit plateaus where it seemed like I'd never lose another pound. I lost 10 pounds and then nothing for 3 weeks. During that time I woke up one morning and my arthritis was gone and my blood sugar had stabilized somewhat. If you keep on your diet and exercise program, you will eventually lose all the weight you want. A healthy body is not overweight. Remember, "Always strive for health and the weight loss will happen!"

Florida has similar if not the same "Exclusive Buyer Agency Agreement" as in my state. The following are typical things a Exclusive Buyer Agent does (in Florida as in Colorado): Explain the forms of agency available to you and explain how different relationships may affect the level and type of service a Buyer may receive from a real estate agent. Offer to enter into a written Agency Agreement with the Buyer. The agreement will include beginning and ending dates, fee structure and payment method, and the responsibilities of both parties. Pledge absolute confidentiality to a Buyer when representing him/her. Counsel the Buyer regarding his/her financial qualifications and assist the Buyer in finding and working with mortgage lenders. In the EBA agreement, the buyer has the option to pay the agent, but in most cases does not. In the event that the seller does not offer compensation to the agent (FSBO), the buyer is responsible to pay his agent. The compensation for the buyer agent is never negotiated between the buyer agent and the seller (unless it's a FSBO). The listing agent representing the seller determines with the seller, how much of a co-op compensation is offered to the buyer agent in the MLS, and the compensation paid is between the brokerages and not the agents). That does not mean that the listing agent can't negotiate his part of the commission with the seller, or a buyer agent rebate part if his commission to the buyer (depending on state laws and lender authorization).

I don't think its negative, its just the facts about a product. Would you rather be an educated consumer or a bonehead that believes anything they tell you? Its no different than the drugs that are supposed to help with ABC but they very conveniently forget to tell you that there is DEFGHIJK side effects. Or you go to buy a smart phone and the monthly price they told you was just for the line and not the data part of it. Same deal. When I started shopping I knew NOTHING. All I knew was formica and tile because thats all we ever had because you could do it yourself. All these places were throwing all these terms around - solid surface, quartz, natural stone. Each had its hype "this is the best", "you don't want that, its old", "this is indestructable", "its impervious to staining", "you can't chip it or crack it", "you can put hot pots on it", on and on. Than you start to read, there is no best, no its not old, no its not indestructible, yes it does stain, chip and crack and oh yeah you can't put hot pots on ANY of it (not that we do that). I work hard for my money and I want to know exactly what I am buying. We are not talking $1.95 for this stuff. They are all in the thousands.
