Help: under-cabinet halogen puck lighting 'flickering'
Comments (3)If wiggling the cord around has any effect on them, then a bad connection seems fairly obvious; you just need to work through a process of elimination to narrow down where the problem is. Try plugging the lights into the socket normally used for the MW, and see whether that makes a difference. Plug some other light fixture into the socket ordinarily used for the UC lights, and see if you can reproduce the problem. These simple tests should help you see whether the problem is with the socket or the lights. Don't imagine that the socket is fine because a MW is plugged into the other side of it; if the lights are on a switch and the MW is not, then the two halves of the outlet have been disconnected from each other and will behave independently....See MorePuck lights for inside upper glass cabinets?
Comments (7)Thank you for the replies and suggestions! We are doing tape lights for under the cabinets but we chose to do the puck lights in the upper cabinets to match cabinetry in the adjacent family room. I found some pictures on houzz that convinced my husband that one puck per door will look better, so that issue is resolved. Next issue, halogen or LED for the tape lights. My husband wants halogen to highlight the sparkly bits in the granite, makes no difference to me(don't tell him though), so he wins that round!...See MorePuck Under Cabinet Lights?
Comments (1)We got the strip LED lights and it was under 1000 for about 18 feet on upper cabs and two glass cabs on top- this included the labor. My GC found a great sale and jumped on it. I also installed AFTER the cabs were in and it was a more complicated install than you are facing. I don't know much about the puck lights but do know anything but LED lights do get hot....See Morehelp with in and under cabinet lighting
Comments (1)TMY23, Most of the rope lights that I have used are a/c 120volt. Just put a switched outlet in the back of one of the cabinets, then, if you can, drill a small hole in between the cabinets to run the rope lights to each cabinet. Most 120 volt rope lights are 25 feet long & you can connect up to 100 feet per run, so you could use one 4-25" sections for several cabinets. If you can't drill in between cabinets, then you may have to use one section per cabinet, with a switched outlet in each cabinet. Mark P.S. Puck lights aren't that bad to look at if you have to go that route in the cabinet. Also, you can use fluorescent strip lights under & on top of the cabinets too....See MoreThe Kitchen Remodeler
