He looks so much better now, it is just wonderful that you rescued him.

In the light of the improvement to his butt (and I assume - as we've seen a bit of the other improvements, earlier - to his other parts, as well) I think that Val should change his name to Happy Horse.

As for glamour shots ... they're not a big priority in my agenda, either - have you seen a shot of ole joyful, lately? I haven't either - no horsing around!

He's turning into my favorite type of quarter horse. I've always loved the older foundation type with the big butts, short cannon bones etc. Great job you're doing with him. Do you know his bloodlines or did that disappear with his journey to the kill pen?

I imagine he has papers....but I didn't get them. I know Texas A & M can do DNA tests to tell what breed he is. I am certain he is a quarter horse, so I am going to have his DNA tested by UC Davis. They can tell if he is in their data base and what bloodline he is, and maybe even who he is. I would love to know his story. I do know that he has been handled a lot and nothing phases him. He stands to be sprayed, bathed, handles feet well. However, he did jerk his hoof out of the farrier's hands one time, so he insists for him to be sedated. He said it may have been because the shoes he put on him were aluminum and made a different sound when he started to nail them. His hooves have improved to the extent that the farrier took him out of the rockers and put him in a wide, flat shoe. His problem was that his soles were very thin, but the x rays he had last week show that they are much thicker now.

There is a page on Facebook called Where Is This Horse Now? I am going to post him on there, but a sorrel QH with a blaze and a stocking....there have got to be thousands and thousands of horses that look like that...so I don't have a lot of hope that will pan out to anything. I put Bane on there....no luck. Bane has a very distinctive tomahawk mark on his left shoulder. I am pretty sure he went thru the Knoxville, Tenn. auction, but probably came from back east. I'd love to know something about both of them.
