Pink Jasmine leaves and stems turning brown
Comments (6)It could be that when you separated the 2 plants, you lost alot of the root system of each and thus the plants are compensating by aborting some of the existing growth. Meanwhile, they're both probably growing brand new roots (ie., often when nothing is happening on top, something is happen underground). I think patience is in order and hopefully some new growth will sprout soon....See MoreAzalea leaves turned brown. Please help!
Comments (4)Most rhododendron leaves will have chewed edges from weevils. That is not a big problem and most people ignore it. Whitish specks on the upper surface of leaves and dark spots varnish-like on the bottom are symptoms of Rhododendron Lace Bugs, Stephanitis rhododendri, and Azalea Lace Bugs, Stephanitis pyrioides, small insects with transparent wings on under-surface of leaves.. This insect hatches early in spring as the new foliage begins to mature and its numbers may build to damaging levels with successive generations. Lace bugs reach their peak in late summer and do their worst in sunny, exposed sites. Spiders are important predators of lace bugs and since they shy away from sunny, hot places, plant your azaleas where there is some shade. Insecticidal soap, horticultural oil, or a systemic insecticide may spare your azaleas the damage if applied in spring when the first hatchlings are noticed. Care must be taken to spray the lower surfaces of the leaves where the lace bugs live. Moving a plant to an area with more shade may alleviate the problem. Lace bugs are more prevalent on certain varieties. The following azalea cultivars have resistance to azalea lace bug: ÂDawn, ÂPink Star, ÂEreka, ÂCavalier, ÂPink Fancy, ÂDram, ÂSeigei, ÂMacrantha, ÂSalmon Pink, ÂElsie Lee, ÂRed Wing, Sunglow and ÂMarilee. Your zone is marginal for some azaleas. The jury is still out on the azalea. Some azaleas are semideciduous in colder areas. It may get a whole new set of leaves this spring and then another set in mid summer. Don't be surprised if it snaps back. But it may look the same a year from now....See MoreBlue Mophead Hydrangea turned purple?
Comments (2)Lack of moisture could make the plant abort the blooms and make them turn brown; so could a fungal infection called Botrytis Blight (the sepals would look water soaked and eventually be covered with mold though). However, if the soil has been kept moist and there is no sign of fungal infection, it seems odd that they go from blue to brown. Usually, there are some other "colors" in between. Maybe various factors conspired to shorten the amt of time that it takes to get to brown. Meaning the progression from blue to brown included other colors but it happened faster than other times so you missed it. Weather, moisture, minerals in the soil... many things can affect these color changes and the times when they occur....See MorePhilodendron pink princess new leaves are brown
Comments (3)The variegation on these plants are very sensitive to stress. Same with white monsteras. It could honestly be anything. It could be the shipment, it could be root damage from potting or shipment. It could be from the ac. It could be sunburn or lack of humidity . Highly variegated plants need more light because they suck energy out of the plant. I would put it in the window of your eastern window. Everything that you’re doing sounds correct, except maybe that’s a little too much water. How did the roots look? The vent could have damaged the leaves, so hopefully now that it’s moved it helps. You can cut those leaves back and let it start again. I’m sorry it’s all so ambiguous. I wish I could help more. I give mine south facing light, right in the window. I have mine in similar soil mix and let mine dry out much further and then water thoroughly....See Moreluis_pr
