Old World- coastal mediterranean bathroom?
Comments (17)I'm back! Sqwashed my index finger last night, so couldn't type. sheesharee thx for letting me know how to post pics. I have done that process for another forum using photobucket. glad to know it will work here too. I'll try it later today......but ugh! my bathroom is ugly w/ the ivy wallpaper! -- a bit embarrassed to post pics! lv_r_golden - First, I DO have 3 boys like you......the girl came at the end to make "4" and the lady rules the roost!. Your input was insightful. btw, your home sounds lovely! I understand people favoring a more modern styles of decor w/ bright colors and clean lines-- watching shows on hgtv I do notice that it is the popular trend. But I live in a 100+ yr old home w/ much of the orig. trim. A more historical feel suits the building best. I was "Country" in the 80's (who wasn't? lol) and then "Victorian" for yrs but, sheesh! got sick of chintz after a while! I don't stick entirely to "theme" to the point where it feels gaudy and cluttered, but add what I like using the general "feel" I'm looking get. Comments made about my home by others include: "warm, comfortable, and cozy" and I'm happy to hear that. I'm glad so many nice posts followed yesterday. I feel very welcome now. Thanks to all! Will try to post pics later today....See MoreMixing antiques with Mediterranean and old world?
Comments (9)Can you mount them sideways on the wall? They look big enough to hang on the side of an out-building, possibly combined with a wagon wheel or farm implement. I see them really setting a mood, definitely in a separate space, possibly outdoors. I have a country kitchen, w/decor inspired by a vintage general store. There are lots of tin signs, birdhouses, & twig wreathes mixed with Coca-Cola memorabilia, nearly-antiques & kitchen cottage-y flotsam. However, the cabinets are traditional raised wood-paneling, I have a white tiled countertop and backsplash, & ceramic tiled floors. So the "bones" are still traditional, and blend with the rest of the houses' furnishings. Which I didn't have much choice in, my old Italian grandmother gave me most of her things when she re-decorated after my grandfather died. Her newer furniture was garbage, this stuff is really timeless....See More7 Tiles Short of Completing Backsplash!!
Comments (8)NGNG... my granite is from Brazil and called El Dorado. For the Hardware I decided to go with Amerock Allison Scroll Pulls in ORB finish, item # A53470-ORB. They are reasonably priced, available at Lowes but I got 30% cheaper buying them online from Woodworkers Hardware & Supply. Regarding needing more tile, it looks like I will be ordering another full box so now I am trying to decide where I might use the rest of the tile. Have been thinking about extending the current subway backsplash up around both the windows at the kitchen counter area. There is enough room at the upper sides and tops of the 2 windows to have 2-3 courses of tile in the subway pattern and then just a 2-3 inch space along the sides of the windows that could be tiled with cut pieces. I think the stone might accent the window areas nicely, and then I could paint the soffits and adjoining walls. What do you all think? Would it look better than painting above the windows?...See MoreHelp, I need some old world rustic charm!
Comments (12)That's why I don't have them (or many other fixtures)) Ah wait except for a small lamp I got on eBay recently. I have vintage second hand lights almost everywhere. But they-Currey & Co-they do have a very good finish-I saw them up close and was very pleasantly impressed. And in bronze, finish is important. Well, or would be important to me. april, we splurged for our dining room and for the round sitting room off the living room, both with Currey & Co bronze chandeliers. The sitting room has the small Treetops, and for the dining room, to echo the trees outside on three sides, we picked Rainforest. I actually bought them both sight unseen because no-one in the nearest big city had any Currey & Co. fixtures in stock. I used Wayfair Canada, in part because of free shipping and free returns, and it worked out very well for us. I'll see if I can find some pictures, I've been too busy moving in to take many lol....See More- 7 years ago
