Skirted Versus Non-Skirted Toilets
Comments (42)Viviglam: "I am curious about the Inax Clessence toilet seat too. I will look it up. ... Is your Inax Clessence seat on your Toto Vespin II? Do you have an Inax toilet?" As specialized as the GardenWeb forums are, there is another place on the Web that has an even more narrowly focused forum just for toilets, and it is an invaluable resource. Under a different moniker there than the monicker that I use here, a couple of weeks ago I posted a description -- including a photo -- of our set-up where, yes, the Inax Clessence advanced toilet seat is mounted on our Toto Vespin II. See the link below. In the same post I linked to a separate posting that I had made in the Terry Love forum in which I had reviewed the early (1979-1982) rivalry between Inax and Toto when advanced toilet seats first were introduced to the Japanese market, and the humorous competing television campaigns. Terry Love edited that earlier post by embedding the videos that I had only linked to, and you may get a kick out of watching them. (I also explained there how the Toto and Inax design philosophies diverge.) We have not installed any Inax toilets here yet, but the toilet in the bathroom adjacent to our bedroom dates from the very early days of the 1.6 gpf era, and the flushing mechanics were still not fully sorted out in those days. (That is, it very often requires more than a single flush to finish the job.) We expect to replace the toilet soon with a dual flush ADA height toilet and -- if we were doing it today -- the Inax Rio Grande would be our top choice. When we get around to it, we already have our Toto SS214 toilet seat, now stting in a box in the attic, to mount on the new toilet. Here is a link that might be useful: A post in the Terry Love forum...See MoreQuestion about our yearly 'color' challenge
Comments (13)Vicky always gives us lots of time to work on the color challenge so for those who want to join in all of the things going on this year I think it's still possible to fit them all in. One of the great things about this challenge, and the seasonal one as well, is that there isn't a size limitation. If you want to make a mini quilt or a dog bed or a birdcage cover, this could be your chance! One of the most popular items from the black/white was a gorgeous tote bag. The possibilities really are endless....See MoreAny ideas about turning a A-line denim skirt into a cape?
Comments (3)I have a denim full skirt that I don't wear and now I have an idea of what to do with it....a cape. How clever. This is what I would do: First a disclaimer: I have never done this but right off the top of my head it sounds doable. Here is what I would do: If it is a full skirt with a waistband, I don't think it would be too hard. Just open one of the side seams and remove the waistband. then finish the waist/neck and side seams with a binding or hem finish. An alternative method would be to lay out the skirt/cape and cut a lining (either flannel or other light weight fabric) the same size. Or if you want a really warm cape, use fleece for the lining! Sew together, right sides facing, leaving an opening in the hem area for turning. Turn right sides out, close opening, and voila a lined cape. However, if it is not a full skirt that would wrap around you, I will have to think on that and hope someone else has a brilliant idea. Good luck and let us know what and how you do it. I will do the same if I get around to this....have put on my long to do list! Murphy...See MoreNeed suggestions on how to attach a skirt to an antique vanity
Comments (10)I had a vanity just like that when I was younger. And for some reason I still remember how the skirt was put on! It had those little upholstery tacks that you push or hammer into the wood, about an inch apart. I think it would be easy and you can gather it as you go along. I wonder what my mom did with my vanity, cause I want it back! lol...See MoreMtnRdRedux
