Well finding your turtle is great news! I feel ya with the wet winter. I lost a lot this year, but you know what that means? I have a valid excuse to buy more:)! Spring should be starting to show her face for you so that's a good thing. Succulents can look so ugly over the winter, but as soon as they start getting that sun and heat they make a turnaround. There overwinter look starts to become a distant memory. I wish you a happy beautiful spring.

ps- In June I'm going to visit my cousin in Nevada. She lives in Nevada in a town called Winnemucca. Nevada is a beautiful state. I remember once visiting her when I was 17 she was 18. We were out takin a drive, and I just remember being in awe of how beautiful the desert was. During our drive it was dusk. On the left side of me it was clear and the sun was going down, but on the other side there was a beautiful lightning storm. It was like a postcard. Never seen anything like it:).

Glad for you and the turtle that it was found. Odds of it surviving in the wild in NV were nonexistent.

Surprisingly, my Echeveria do fairly well over the winter. But then they rarely get any water during that time which prevents them from trying to grow

Kara--I think Nevada is beautiful in a different kind of way. We sure had some gorgeous sunrises during the stormy winter.

Dave--I work at the legislature so I've been pretty busy--only about 25 days to go. I probably won't have a day off after this until it's over.

Paul--I think it was too warm in that room for the Echies. That little boy is amazing. He disappeared for a whole summer one year and I found him under a huge tomato plant in fall. I swear he has 9 lives like a cat considering all the things that could have happened to him.

Leslie--Thanks for sharing the pictures of your flowering babies. Now you know the bittersweet experience of beautiful, short-lived flowers. Thank goodness for cameras!

That time of year again. Are your echinobabies waking up with signs of blooms, yet? I have a few breaking dormancy and forming buds, but, I always look forward to seeing you post your fair beauties in flower.

I'm looking to refine the culture and wanted to ask if you continued to use ammonium sulfate to feed your plants? If ya have, what has been your experience, good or bad?

Times will come and you will be happy again. Who get's all the plants happy through winter? And besides: it gives room for new ones.

Yep I feel with Noto my night lows don't want to level out at all, and had some below zero stuff this year.been while since that has happened here in the sticks

noto what are you doing this winter? here in reno we had 16 " of snow last night and still coming down. very nice-and even better is that by tues it will be in the 50s and the snow will go. hope everything is well with you.
