Will these fabrics works for my sunroom?
We are doing some renovations on our first floor and it is time to make fabric decisions for the sunroom. My style is country/ cottage and this room will have four slipcovered chairs and function as an occasional sitting area. It is directly off our kitchen. I had trouble finding an available upholstery grade fabric that I loved but finally found this white matelasse.
My question is if it is "too white" for the curtain fabric I am hoping to use? Or could they work together with a creamy paint to bridge them? I worked with Lori to pick Mannequin Cream for the walls and I really love it so I'm hoping to use that. It is the creamy sample board on the chair. There will be beadboard as well, painted in the Mascarpone shown on the cupboard sample. Mascarpone will be our trim/ kitchen cabinet paint so that is decided. Do you think it matters that the chair white is whiter than the mascarpone and stark white compared to the creamy curtains? I just don't want to make an expensive mistake. Thanks so much for any insight.

Comments (3)We have a rattan sofa, loveseat, chair and ottomon in our sunroom. I bought replacement covers for all the cushions in Sunbrella fabric about 5 years ago-no fading at all. In addition we have a table with four chairs. Last year I bought 4 cushions from Home Decorator's in Sunbrella and they have been great. Comments (33)jane ny, I was in a similar situation last year. For me the sequence was paint first, then flooring, then baseboards, But it looks like you may have baseboards already installed. Painting first worked for me because I did it myself and there were spatters on the subloor before I was finished. You might want to check on whether your subfloor is indeed covered with plywood, because you may need an underlayment before installing your floor, depending on what you choose. Best to check where you buy the flooring. With some help from a friend who knew what he was doing and owns a Skill Saw, I installed a plywood underlayment in less than two hours. I too wanted tile with a slate or similar look, but the room was already over budget (long story) and I chose to spend my money on high end French doors because the floor could always be changed later. I got some advice from the flooring forum while deciding. You can always post a message there before you proceed. We narrowed floor choices down to either loose-laid sheet vinyl or vinyl tiles. My friend chose the tiles because the color and pattern seemed to fit well in the sunroom/porch. The original intention was to keep those tiles for about a year while I shop for tile and find a good tile installer. Comments (2)If those are solid panes of glass ( faux mullions ) I would have the windows tinted in a light tint to prevent fading. I live in an area where its sunny year around ( So California ) & I leave my windows uncovered 90% of the time, I’ve experienced no fading on either my furniture, art or hardwood floors. 7 years agoI think it could work if you use the colors in the drape fabric in other places in the room, like a pillow for the chair, to make it look intentional. What other furniture will be in the area by the drapes and have you chosen those pieces?
I looked for images of cream drapes and white chairs, but didn't find many, and what I found was solid drapes. There may be some others out there with patterned drapes, I didn't look in too many sites.

Thank you! I would definitely put some of the drapery fabric into pillows on the chairs. As far as other furniture, besides the four chairs we will only have room for a coffee table, rug, and two small side tables. And a chandelier! My rug plan is a plain cream or sisal look. This green check is another curtain option, my concern with this one is that the room would feel too "cold" during the long winters we have here, but maybe not.
