Please help me choose a countertop to go with this backsplash
Comments (20)If budget was a consideration for the Eco Cosentino Iron Ore, it will probably be a factor with a real blue granite. Besides, if you want your bs to stand out, I'd let it be the one strong blue element in the room. I'd like the Blue Volga or Blue Pearl because the blues in those are subtle and won't shout for attention. If you have the blue granite picked first, I'd want a calm bs. If you try to have too many stars in the room, then it gets noisy. We have Corian in their Rain Cloud pattern and it has a marble like vibe but it also has some small amount of taupe-ish beige. You would have to see if its soft white works with your cab's paint color. Here is a mellow pic of our counters. There is more color to them IRL but from the distance, they do look like a soft white. I am posting pix of this and linking to another one below to give you an idea of the color range to go with your tiles. You could find the equivalent in stone, but we are happy with the Corian. (try to find the seam.. even blown up big it is well done) I could also see a counter with an orange beige tone in it. That would work with the wood look floor and still pair with your cabs and bs. Here is a link that might be useful: Corian Saffron...See MoreStick on tiles for counter tops and possibly backsplash???
Comments (5)Sharon, Stick on tiles might work fine for a backsplash, especially if it doesn't get a lot of gunk on it and need a lot of wet cleaning, but I wouldn't want them on a countertop because they could get really icky if moisture gets under them wehre they come together, and bits of food could get into the joins as well. Have you thought of mixing a color paint you like better? Or stenciling a pattern?...See MoreNeed reassurance/opinions on counter top and backsplash
Comments (11)Thanks for the input. I lean toward the Raven and Calacatta, too. (In fact we just told our contractor to put the order in for the countertop). I'm still not 100% sold on the marble tile, though, I originally wanted a carrera that would be more muted, but the tile shop we're using doesn't have anything that looks right with Raven. I just worry that the Calacatta is SO white. When I see kitchens like this: http://bungalowhomeinteriors.blogspot.com/2012/04/clients-home.html my eye is drawn to how cool the tile looks next to the cabinetry. Guess I'm also concerned that the calacatta has more movement in it, which could be distracting. I'm loving the look of this kitchen (also with Raven), but I don't know what the tile is: https://www.houzz.com/photos/south-pasadena-craftsman-traditional-kitchen-los-angeles-phvw-vp~14622889-Pasadena-Craftsman-traditional-kitchen-los-angeles Does anyone regret getting marble backsplash?...See Moreneed a backsplash for laborite blue/green counter top in kitchen
Comments (21)I LOVE your counters - I considered a Blue Australe which seems similar to laboradite, but it was almost twice the price, at the time, of what I ended up choosing, Volga Blue. (very hard capturing either of these stones in a picture, isn't it) So I understand your challenge, I spent a long time puzzled over a backsplash for my counters. I went with the Seneca Tile company's Blue Lagoon from the Studio line. My counter reads black and hints of silver at first glance, the blue inclusions are subtle until you are trying to look for them, so it doesn't read too busy in real life. In the same line, they have a gorgeous variegated green called Waterlily, it might work in your kitchen Seneca waterlily- here's some more inspiration, some of these blue/ green mixes that may work- from http://senecatiles.com/senecablends-gallery/nggallery/page/1 Here's a work in progress shot of our Blue Lagoon backsplash going up- I have no regrets going bold and colorful, I feel happy every time I look at it...See Morebuilderguy2341
