Thank you for all the feed back. What I have gathered is that this plant can take drought very, very well and it can take wet roots well, this is considered that it is growing in the ground. It likes acidic soil but can handle pH in the 7s. I think Im going to water it like a citrus, let the soil dry out and then drench it. If I notice leaf drop, Ill water more. I have had more plants die from over watering (junipers) and root rot than to underwatering. Im going to put it in profile and bark and use azela (acidic loving) fert for it. Im thinking to put a teaspoon amount of granular sulphur in the soil mix to keep it slightly acidic. Has anyone tried this? -Bill

Opaca, vomitoria, decidua occur here naturally. Not sure if this is what you meant by named but let me know if this helps.

Look into Ilex glabra 'Shamrock'. It is taller than 'Schillings Dwarf' and the leaves are bigger too.

She was probably talking about a fungus disease of the roots, found in the soil. If so, there is nothing you can spray on them. Though these are very tough little plants, your specific site could be problematic. The extension agent should go into further details. By the way, lab tests are available for such disease, also via the extension service. Call them for instructions about how to prepare a sample to send to the diagnostic lab.
