The comparison between the AHS pic and mine, was what made me wonder. Mine is actually creamier than it looks in the shot I took. Depending on the site, the same one that AHS has up looks more or less white. The biggest difference to me is the color of the leaf. Even the written description states that the leaves are very dark green. I bought mine at an independently owned nursery. They had several pallets of them, all labelled the same way. I think their vendor messed up. It's a pretty hibiscus, and I can enjoy it just fine, but I really like true white blooms, especially, as it is planted next to a bright fuschia one. What I have to remember is that most other people don't think of those things when they admire a garden. They just see the pretty flowers as they are and appreciate them as they are.

To clarify our contract: We have an *atypical* contract arrangement. It was a whole house water damage situation and many things were staying the same and many things were being upgraded. The contract was written in a way that we choose materials and pay as we go. The builder listed every item that was being worked on and estimated cost, labor separate and every item had to be approved by us before he began. Every item and finish we decided on was purchased by him as we approved it. We were given his receipts of all purchases (down to the nails!) on a monthly basis. When the time came for a finish decision, we had a meeting to choose materials and discuss cost. We would then give the go ahead and he would purchase the materials. When we were ready for floors, he called me down to choose size and material. He said the current floor upstairs (that did not get damaged) was red oak. I told him to go ahead and get the same for main floor, but to use a wider plank. His mistake in identifying the wood. We finished the whole house 2500 sq ft like this with no problems and excellent outcome, except for this floor mistake. I guess if you are saying it won't be noticeable since they are not visible at the same time, I will not pursue any further. I think we have a good arrangement with our builder and don't want to burn bridges as this is the last item on our project. And I feel a little better as you are both telling me the difference will not be noticeable. Let's see what happens next week. I've been putting off staining until I felt comfortable with the outcome. Thanks!

@falusiaa I know this thread is a few years old now but did you end up getting your floors reinstalled? We're looking at having this exact same floor installed in our home- Maxwell unfinished engineered white oak in select grade. Have you been happy with it? Did you apply a stain or go with the natural finish? Like you, we are opting for a bit more modern and don't want the knots and character defects that make it a little more rustic. Thanks!

He obviously does not know what he is doing. No walls are completely straight so there are always adjustments needed to scribe the top to fit the wall he did not do that moving it over will not solve the issue.BTW the tiles should not have been installed until this was fixed.
