That's a very tough situation and I'm glad you can share it here and get it out of you. I've had several brothers commit suicide. Going through their belongings prompted many tears and such grief. I hope you have many arms around you while you deal with your sorrow.

It is tough to empty someones home... I know. But to plan your brothers funeral must be specially hard. Please don't forget to take care of yourself during this trying time. You need it for yourself.

jewels, thinking of you. I know how hard that whole process is. It can be both devastating and cathartic at the same time, stretching your limits. The physical, the emotional, the financial, the legal, the family, the practical, the big issues, the minutiae, all seem to come together at once like a ton of bricks and all have to be dealt with at the same time. It can be overwhelming. Stay strong and be sure to take care of yourself in the process and seek support wherever you can whenever you need it.

Haven't heard much about your 3 year old niece. She, too, has lost her mother, surrogate mother, and father in about a year and a half. She can't be left behind in thought; I'm not suggesting that you, or your family, are neglecting her. You have a tough road to hoe with these new responsibilities, should you agree to accept them. What an incredible thing you're going through. Bless you.

You must be reeling. Expect the shock to wear off after the funeral and allow yourself time to process, if you can. Did you mention what will happen to the children? The poor babies sure would benefit from a stable home. I'm keeping you all in my prayers.

I remember how hard it was to clean out my brother's apartment and handle his affairs when he died at the young age of 46, so this must be so much harder on you with the young children to consider as well. Do the best you can, pace yourself and take a break when you need it. It may be hard to believe now, but as you deal with all of these things, you will find hidden strength that you didn't know you had. Thanks everyone! I really do appreciate the support, hugs, prayers, etc. My niece is only 3 so this is not quite as hard on her.....right now. We talk a lot about her mom and dad both being in heaven. We looked at lots of pictures today that are going to be on the slideshow and she is excited every time she sees her mommy or daddy. My mom and stepdad came over today and we ordered the obituary and the program for the service. We wanted to set up a bank fund for the kids in the obituary but the bank said it would have to be approved and we would need a tax ID number and it would not be able to be completed by 3:00 today, which we needed. I just added that donations were being taken for the kids for education, through the family. My sister has already set up an education account after their mother died. My SIL is going to sing at the service and she does such a good job at it. It's funny sometimes when the tears come. Yesterday at the church the pastor's wife asked me if that was Erik's little girl and it just hit me. Today at the bank the banker asked about guardianship and that hit me too. I'll keep you posted and thanks again for the well wishes.

Jewels...as soon as your able talk to an attorney. .if your going to raise the children get a custody and guardianship order from a county judge in order to protect the children. The law states someone must have custody of each child. When parents are living its an automatic, but now the children have no custodian. This needs addressed after the funeral.
