I just spoke with the rep out in California. He stated the counter too is highly "dry heat" resistant and yes you can can have those burners coming out of the laminate as displayed. I'm going to do more research. If this is true this makes it even a more wonderful material!

That looks like a nightmare to keep looking clean.

It's anti microbial, anti fingerprints, extremely smooth. The samples are so different from regular laminate and my distributor is excited because they have a contract with a local hospital. Very easy to keep clean.

What kind of burners are these? Not sure I'd like all the food stuff fall on my counters. Also, what if it's liquid boiling over?

"nanotechnology" is, of course, nonsense, or rather, meaningless.

Easy to clean and easy to keep clean looking are two different things. But really it would only be the dark colors that would be hard to keep clean looking, same as any other dark colored surface. The matte surface would probably show oily smudges easier though.

I've received 12 5"x8" samples of Fenix laminates. A couple of whites, a beige, taupe, a range of greys, delft blue and black. The medium to dark colors seem to suck all light away, very opaque, barely reflecting anything. The surface is very matte and feels smooth and silky, and no matter how much I handled them, not one showed ANY fingerprints ever. So I rubbed my fingers along the underside of my exhaust fan, where thickened grease resides - ugh... and finally managed to leave fingerprints on the black sample. To clean it, I held the sample under cold running water (no soap), wiped with a rag, and voila, the prints were gone, the surface was clean again, no grease remained, making me think that the surface must repel oil, as my fingers needed lots of soap to feel clean again...

I tried to leave scratches with my fingernails, to no avail, so I took one of my sharp pairing knifes and pressing hard managed to leave a cut of varying depth. I took rough sandpaper to it, with which I managed to almost get rid of the cut entirely, but of course left lots of minor scratches. Finer sandpaper minimized those scratches, and I'm sure that if I had more patience and an electric sanding tool, I could easily make them disappear entirely. Instead I tried to replicate Fenix's moist-heat-healing-method to make micro scratches disappear, and I think that very fine scratches vanished, but that still left deeper scratches. I'm sure that if I had more patience and an electric tool, I could make them disappear entirely. At any rate, the scratches are very difficult to see, I actually have to look for them up-close and at a specific angle and oddly, they can't be felt, the sanded surface feels as silky-smooth as the area around it.

Truly a very different and amazing material!

The completely integrated gas burners are probably from PITT Cooking, which is a Dutch company. There is distribution in America but I have no idea how you would get it serviced.

Wolf makes an induction cooktop that can be mounted completely flush to the countertop.

I guess the only concern I have with the PITT Cooking, the flush mounted Wolf and other completely integrated appliances is the complete lack of flexibility if something goes wrong. The PITT appliances lack "modularity" in that you can't unplug it, remove it and plug in another cooktop of the same size to cover the hole, and the completely flush Wolf, while a standard size requires modification to the countertop.

I had a 27" fully integrated SubZero that was part of a very specific piece of cabinetry that was in my living room outside the kitchen technically, and when they stopped making the 27" wide model, it was one of the (minor) reasons I moved. If that ever needs to be replaced, the current owner is going to have a major project on their hands.

I have known a couple of people who have had things like the 1950s GE all-in-one kitchen or the GE wall hung refrigerators, or completely built in burners (it's been done here and there since the 1950s anyway), and All of them had some random refrigerator or range or something stuck somewhere else because one piece of the entire puzzle failed.

Compare that to many more "normal" kitchens I see in real estate from the 1940s and on that are essentially the original kitchen with new appliances more or less successfully plugged in to the original spaces made for them.
