Comments (2)Lol! I saw your bid on DQ, Thistle. Don't feel bad, I've still got 30 on my porch waiting to be planted (when the temps get back down into the 80s, maybe lower 90s), thought I was done ordering for the year, and just ordered TWO more that I can't wait until '15 to have. It's a sickness at this point....See MoreAnyone up for having fun at the hosta library auctions?
Comments (40)Waaaaaa, wailing here in despair because I can't join in! Aside from waiting for Bruce's Aphrodite to bloom, this is the most anticipated thread for me since it involves some serious hosta shopping, lol. You all scored BIG ... I'm so looking forward to pics, please? Jamie...how lucky for you to get a Sleeping Star..I kind of remember a post about it...have it on my want list. I also have a new June Spirit...it'll be nice to compare growing notes. :-) FF...you said you were already growing Cold Heart...I missed out on it this year as it was sold out..."lime colour with corrugation" got my heart racing...is it doing well in your garden? I would really love to see a pic of it if at all possible, please? All of you on this thread sound like the "A Team" of Acquisitions!!! I really got caught up in your excitement...thanks for sharing. :-) Jo...See MoreThe American Hosta Society Auction Started
Comments (40)Jon, 'Snake Eyes' has been around for a while, but stock is quite limited and it's in high demand. I don't think it has ever been tissure cultured. The plant on the auction was a large division and there were many eager buyers. It's a very attractive hosta...so the bidding went high. I suppose a lot of bidders don't really know just how common (and available) some hostas are, and how uncommon and hard-to-obtain other hostas are. They may not have the opportunity to spend time searching the Web for a source to purchase a rare hosta...and they don't get around to other gardens and nurseries much to really know what's commonly in the trade and what isn't......See MoreBabka NorCal 9b
