Help! Temporarily decommissioning a swimming pool

My parents have a large in ground concrete swimming pool that they no longer use and is costing them a small fortune to maintain. They don't want to destroy it as it would be nice to re-instate it again some day in case they want to sell (at least 10 years away).

1. We can't just leave it full of water as it will grow slime and breed mosquitoes.

2. If we drain it it will just fill with water again next time it rains (there is no "drain hole" in the bottom that you can leave open like a bath tub).

3. If we have some sort of pump that keeps the water out of it this will involve some cost and upkeep, and we've been told that the pool will tend to "lift" up out of the ground without the weight of the water in it anyway.

4. If we fill it with dirt it will still fill up with water and become mud.

5. If we deck over it like this http://www.deckover.com/ mob does, we still have problem# 3.

Does anyone know if you could leave it full of water, put some sort of seal (plastic?) over the whole thing to keep the sun (and thus slime) and mosquitoes out, THEN deck over it?

Any other suggestions??
