What makes this sound?

I'm located in southern NH and I hear this calling occasionally. Sometimes whatever it is, it's literally right underneath where I am sitting on the deck. You can hear it this time talking to others in the distant trees. It's not a squirrel, chipmunk, raccoon or fox, I hear those enough but this one has me baffled. Anyone want to take a shot? THANK YOU!!

What sound is this?

Winner winner chicken dinner - gray tree frog! Amazing something the size of my thumb can be that loud. We see them on the house this time of year filling up on black flies for the mating season. Thank you!

any news about your boxwoods? i just wanted to edit my previous post which had a little bit of misinformation. isotox does not contain imidacloprid, is not very effective against leafminers, and is very toxic to boot. i second oldroser's suggestion above to use bayer's advanced garden insecticide which contains imidacloprid. it comes in a milky solution to mix in water for soil drenching or in pellet form to scatter around the root base. while i do not like to use chemicals in my garden, i have been desperate enough - because i have such a severe infestation and i have many other boxwoods - to apply imidacloprid. the adult insects are recognizable for their mosquito-like form and orange bodies and in my zone they are swarming now.

I don't think it's a chupacabra, they have lower voices. No seriously, could it be a frog? You are in the US aren't you? Rural area or in town?

You have good eyes!!:) seriously how do you know it's male? He made a buzzy sound. At first I thought it was an electrical sound but everytime I went into the kitchen it stopped so I then thought aha it's an insect. Sure enough little buzzer was under the sink mat. Is it a ground cricket? I've read that they are tiny and they trill instead of chirping.

That sounds like the Gray Treefrog (Hyla versicolor) but it is a single individual "just warming up". The trill gets longer and louder as later in the night and after rains. Having said that, wrens will sometimes give a short dry trill like this as well, but I think this one is Hyla versicolor.

Definitely the frog. One was right under my deck, another about 300' away in a tree and a third off in trees opposite side of yard. This was mid day. We find them on the side of house first thing in the morning assuming they go around lights to eat. Thank you for the reply.
