I'd suggest just framing a few of them and hanging them on a plain painted wall.

That inspiration photo is too busy and would give me a headache looking at it for too long.

But to each his own.

They didn't take showers in Victorian days. :P

Are you thinking of using prints or what? If you can get extra copies/samples, perhaps tack some up for a few weeks and see what happens. If the fan is REALLY good, maybe? But I'm not sure what your paper is actually made of.

(The inspiration photo is great but they should have covered up that bleh wood stuff as well!)

I'd agree on the shower comment. Shower = steam.

I would agree with the steam comment, however if they are completely sealed I am not really sure how the steam could touch them. What's the worse that can happen, you peel and have to paint? I would recommend Modern Masters Dead Flat Varnish. I have used it many times. It is pricey, but it will dry with no sheen at all so your prints will show without the poly glare. It protects like poly, scrubable, and will never yellow.

Let's say we go ahead and do this....in the future is it ever removable? I've removed wallpaper before and I'm wondering how THIS would come off if it were partially damaged or you changed your mind. I guess you'd want to be sure the wall was painted well beforehand.

Well, the removal would be a problem after it is sealed up and yes I do agree with the shower steam.Modern Masters Dead Flat Varnish is a fine product that I had forgotten about.Personally, I do not recommend paper in a bath. Can you make it stick and last? Yes, but I just spent 4 hours removing paper in a bath that was NOT PRIMED first and will spend another 4 hours fixing the walls to paint. YOU MUST PRIME THE WALLS with a WALL COVERING primer to seal them first. If this was always done, people would still like wall paper instead of hating it.

I will second the point about the importance of priming the walls first! Our 1964 bathroom had 2 layers of wallpaper over unprimed drywall. OMG. I could get some of the top layer off, although 4 hours would not have been nearly enough for our tiny MBA. The metallic bottom layer would only come off with the top layer, sometimes chunky, of the drywall. Eventually, we just had the drywall guys in to skim coat it. Sadly, this was not the only place this had be done in this house.

atipphowes - if you get this paper up and seal it, and have trouble with it down the line, you could have the drywall guys in to do a skim coat for you too. Financially, it's not a big hit, and after it's done you can't tell.

I have a 100+ year old house with no fans/vents in the bathrooms and I love wallpaper. There is just nothing like wallpaper to enliven a space and give it personality. There was already wallpaper in all the bathrooms and the powder room and kitchen when I moved. Over the years, I've wanted to bring my own taste to the rooms with new wallpaper.

About 5 years ago I hired my wallpaper hanger to put some adorable Schumacher wallpaper into my teenage daughter's small bathroom. Note: Teenagers + showers + no fan = LOTS OF STEAM!

The wallpaper hanger encountered the problems others have noted with removing the old wallpaper--it hadn't been prepped and the face of the wallboard kept peeling off, leaving rough spots. She did her best, but the walls weren't really flat. She put the paper up anyway and it looked fabulous. Then, after 3-4 years of 1-2 showers per day in that room and the wallpaper started to peel off in a few areas.

I called the wallpaper hanger and she came over and spent 30 minutes sticking the edges down again. It looks great again!!

The bottom line: 1) DO properly prep and prime the walls; 2) unless you are a raging perfectionist, put up wallpaper in your bathroom if you love wallpaper. Just maybe expect to do a bit of re-gluing now and then = really not a big deal. It's a bit of work, but so is touching up painted walls.
