Four years later, In case anyone else stumbles upon this, here's some more helpful details vs. "I found an adapter". The test cock threads on the Febco 765 are "flared". I'm not a plumber but I was told the intent by Febco is to use flared threads to discourage direct air compressor hookups to the test cocks even though 90% of people use them for this purpose. So, it takes a special adapter to screw on the threads of the test cock. If you go the route I did and first try to fit a $4 1/8 inch female adapter from Lowe's, you'll quickly notice that the threads don't fit (like a previous responder wrote). The part I found is called "1/4 Inch Male Pipe X 1/4 inch Female Flare Brass Adapter". I found it at an irrigation store for $7 so I'm unsure if it is available at the big box Home stores. Hope this helps the next person that is very confused by threading issues on the Febco 765. Good luck.

Dchall, one of the products the other forum recommends is Pennington Fast-acting Lime. It contains calcium oxide, which is a caustic substance. And how long is it effective? According to this seller, it remains in the soil either 4 weeks or 4 months: Pennington lime. Over here it says 4 weeks: Pennington lime. Whether it's 4 weeks or 4 months, anyone with really acidic soil is ill served by a recomendation to use a very limited amount of product that is effective for such a short time. It is much better to use aglime that has some finely ground particles that react quickly and other particles that react more slowly. You can use 50 lb/k at a time if you use aglime (which can be dolomitic or calcitic). It is not uncommon for acidic soil to need over 100 lb/k. If the soil test indicates you need x amount of lime, you need the whole amount, whether it comes from fast acting lime or aglime or a combination. And where do you get a lime recommendation? From a buffer test. Logan doesn't include it in their regular test. All they're doing at the other forum is giving a short term fix. They are not addressing the real need for lime, because they don't know what it is. There is no buffer test done.
