computer freezing all the time
Comments (7)DA, the Canadian border guards assume all our purchases south of the border are made in the US. Therefore thanks to the free trade agreement there are no duties payable. We do declare all our purchases and food is exempt from all taxes. In fact I always have the cash register receipts visible in my hand if he/she wishes to have a look at them. You should expect the same considerations regarding duty. I suspect perhaps you merely pay the Michigan taxes. You are also allowed to return with US$250 daily. There was an interesting article a couple of years ago where a Maine citizen built his home with materials entirely purchased in Canada. At that time the exchange rate was so much better for you folks, haha. On trips of less than 48 hours we are allowed to bring nothing back with us but if we do then federal and provincial taxes (14% combined) can be charged. This is at the discretion of the border agent on duty. We as old foggies find we can get away with buying somewhere over $100 each and pay nothing most of the time. We also do not cross on weekends when the Toronto crowd swell the numbers....See MoreComputer freezes no mouse control
Comments (12)I have started having some very strange problems with mine. I have 3 computers hooked up to one KVM switch so I only have one monitor, mouse, keyboard and speakers for all. My mouse is a wireless usb, my keyboard is older hp keyboard with a ps2 to usb adapter which plugs into my usb slot of the KVM switch. I can start up my hp xp computer and everything works fine, just as it should, my other computers, linux and new xp pc all work fine. The problem comes when I switch from my HP xp pc to one of the others on the kvm then switch back to the HP xp, then my mouse is locked up and at times so is my keyboard, my computer is on and working fine but I have no control, I tried unplugging the usb mouse and the usb keyboard but that now does not help, it seems as if there is no power to them. And the strangest part is I got my old ps2 mouse out and tried plugging it directly into the back of my HP xp machine and that did not work either, nor did plugging my ps2 keyboard directly into the ps2 plugin on the back of the pc. I have to do a hard shutdown of the HP xp machine to gain back my full control then all is fine. I do not have that problem on either of the other 2 pcs that are connected to the kvm switch. I have been going nuts trying to troubleshoot this and figure out what the heck is causing it. So if any of you have any thoughts or ideas on what to try please let me know I am willing to try anything just about at this point. I did just plug in a new keyboard which I had available, it is ps2 also so I have the usb adapter on it plugged into the usb slot on the KVM switch and still have the usb wireless mouse. I am on my linux pc now and everything works perfectly. I may try a system restore to before these issues started, it seems there are a few other settings that are different on my HP machine that happened about the same time but who knows if that is related. At this point I am just leaving it shut down till I need to access it then I boot it up do what I need and shut it down again. A pain! I do not know much about electricals and that sorta seems like what this maybe. I also considered if my usb card has gone wacky in my pc and is not providing good power to the kvm switch. Anyone??? got any ideas?...See MoreComputer freezes
Comments (5)How old is your computer Alma? Have you ever removed the left side panel and looked for dust bunnies. If the computer only freezes while trying to burn you may have just enough crud in there to cause over heating. Another possibility is a stuck fan or quit altogether causing a heat buildup. Remove the power cord from the rear if you go inside and keep your hand or bare arm on the metal frame to protect delicat parts from static electricity. The specs on that computer shows the memory (RAM) as anything from 256 megabytes to 1 gigabyte. How much does your computer have? To find out click Start, click Control panel, click System. Now a new, smaller window should appear and near the bottom it will tell you how much RAM you have installed....See Morecomputer freeze
Comments (8)Try disabling add/ons for firefox see if that does help, To disable all of Firefox's add-ons, you have to open the browser in its Safe Mode (no relation to Windows' own Safe Mode) by clicking Start - All Programs -Mozilla Firefox - Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). A quicker way is to press the Windows key (in XP, follow this by pressing R), type Firefox - safe-mode, and press Enter. See the link it gives a picture about the information above, Scrool down to where it says "To disable all of firefox add ons. If this is no help perhaps it is a up-date problem, but I think you should try the disable add/ons thing first and then try to load page using firefox. If nothing works then we start to wonder if we/you should consider reinstalling firefox.. zep Here is a link that might be useful: Firefox disable add/ons...See More- 8 years ago
