Ok- i'll post this to both threads since we got a little spread wide here. :) The first line is what i'm bringing, second what you're bringing. Karen- Dianthus japonica S. karwinskii RJ- troutlilies, rose epimedium sprekelia, fern (later), calanthe orchid Judy- 2 divvy's of lipstick hardy begonia(?), monkshood seedling (or corydalis, is fine, too) Elsie (off threads)- pot of jap maples midnight salvia bringing to the general swap so far- iris cristata, dianthus japonica, japanese maple seedlings, small dogwoods, 1 divvy of lipstick salvia, a forsythia, 2 seedling contorted poncirus 'flying dragon', 2 dame's rocket (purple or white), rudbeckia triloba, hellebore orientalis seedlings, horehound, lathyrus latifolia (perennial sweet pea), tricostemma 'blue curls' and anise agastache. I will be pretty busy this week, but some possibilities that i could still dig: woodland phlox, a mini bearded iris that is mustardy yellow with a bright blue beard, sedums, carolina jessamine seedlings, butterfly pea, and lots more stuff on my trade page I also have a ton of tricostemma and aquilegia canadensis babies i could pull up the morn of- they are where i don't want them in the drive. The columbine don't normally transplant well, but they shouldn't be too hard coming from the gravel and if i know someone wants them... Looking for autumn fern, ostrich fern, and especially 'dehlia's purple' that i brought divisions of to a few people a few yrs back. I lost my mother plant to some disease. It's an old fashioned rose and the chances of finding it elsewhere are nil since my mentor never was able to ID it out, so she named it. I don't know if i could get it from her again- the homestead where it is is ways off and she's in poor health. Also, i seem to have lost my hardy begonias. I think i gave away too many one year and the drough finished off the rest. Would love to get white or pink, but esp the white.

Hi jdbheartease! I have 3 red cascade roses that have almost formed a hedge. When I planted them in March 2011, they were about 6" tall, and now they have grown up a 3' metal support and cascade down another 6-8 feet. Other than putting in the supports, they have been completely care free! I will look for baby plants for you and let you know what I find. Email me a reminder please! Jeri

Linda, This is my 3rd year wintersowing. I absolutely love seeing those seedling pop up. I have several of my neighbors also wintersowing. It's addicting. I generally don't put my seedling out until they have gotten to be 1" - 2" in size and all chance of frost past - so late April/May. I do wintersowing a little different every year. The first & second year, I put lots of seeds in the container - well then you have to thin them out and generally I don't need that many seedlings. This year, I didn't put as many seeds in the jug - so I may only have 5 - 8 plants in there. Last year, I wintersowed daylilies for the first time - 2 - 4 seeds per jug. I didn't take the daylilies out of the jug until they had almost reached the top of the jug. The exciting part about the daylilies that I wintersowed last year is that this year I will get flowers. I can't wait until they bloom. I also wintersowed miniature hostas last year. They're still in the plastic salad container that I wintersowed them in - but the lid was taken off last year when they came up. They're already coming up - 1". This year, I will plant them in a clay container or put them in the garden. By far, the plants that I wintersow are more healthier than the plants that I buy. I don't buy many plants anymore. I usually take my extra plants/divisions to the plant swaps and get plants there. BTW, there is a wonderful Raleigh Plant Swap. Well, putting aside the perspective of the bricks in the background, which makes it look ginormous and like it would never fit into a styrofoam cup, I'll guess that it's one of the red Alternantheras. A. 'Red Threads ' is one of my favorites and if that's what it is I'm jealous that I missed it.
