Some of my spring bulbs.
Comments (8)I love those. Beautiful! It makes me sad that I can't do tulips here, they won't come back. eta: I dream of one day having a fridge dedicated to bulbs that need chill hours, lol. Comments (10)Thanks Shot, Seems like the more development that goes on around here, the more all the wild animals are attracted to our place I can't blame them, but it does present quite a few challenges. We could never have a garden without a fence to keep the rabbits out. Even then, I find nests of babies under the shade of the plants. Who can throw out baby rabbits until they're old enough to fen for themselves? So they get the run of the garden until they're older. haha The coons and the deer are more of a challenge. Our property looks a little strange, with fencing around all the trees. I have a chicken coop/run that is like Fort Knox, so thankfully haven't lost any chickens yet to coons/haws/owls. Seems like when the animals leave things alone, we get a late frost. Hopefully your peas will recover. A late frost one year froze all the top leaves of my bush beans, but they recovered nicely, so hopefully your peas will too!...See MoreNeed some suggestions on where and how to plant my piilu.
Comments (1)Short and squat :-) and a heavy bloomer. I would consider wrapping something like loose chickenwire around the birdhouse post - makes an effect like a circular trellis. But the vine will never get very tall....See Moreneed to plant some bushes at my cottage
Comments (2)We've got a hemlock and some junipers that grew rather well with not too much attention after the first year. Once established they don't need much water, and they're among the few things I have that the deer have never bothered with. You can cut them back severely to keep them within size limits. We had one that was quite badly bashed by ice and snow that slid off our third floor roof and we had to chop a lot off of it. It looks good as new. A neighbor has lilacs that occasionally run amok. They grow well here, but they're kind of slow growers at least to start with. Hers get more water than mine. That's about it as far as what I have in my drier, poorer soil area....See More- 7 years agolast modified: 7 years agobunkfree_4a_canada thanked Kara 9b SF Bay Area CA
