while I am sitting here dreaming about my brug farm next year
Comments (30)Lucy darling, my oh my ! Some hybridizers are very picky and others not so picky. On BGI for instance, some of the seeds in the seed bank come with stipulations and some not. JT Sessions donates seeds free and clear, he wants nothing to do with them after he sends them in. You can do with them what you want. He doesn't have the time, and doesn't want to be bothered with them once they leave his hands. If you get a really nice brug from his seeds, he wants no credit, you can do with it what you want. You can register it or not, your choice. All of the other donors @ the bank want hybridizer's rights. This means you give them credit. The hybridizer has the right to deny the ability for you to register the brug if they feel it's not up to their standards. In other words, they don't want their name on a plant that isn't worthy of registration. Once you get a nice plant from a seed, you give the hybridizer one to grow and the two of you can evaluate it's potential. You can, and should let different people in different climates grow it also. This comes under the heading of trialing a plant. While you are trialing you shouldn't share the plant. You are growing it purely to evaluate. I also would think if you grew a nice plant from a seed, but not worthy of registration, it would be perfectly fine to share the plant. If you had any doubts you could check with the hybridizer. I also think (this is my opinion) that you keep the name of the cross, and not use NOID. This way you keep up with what the cross is for further use. Also I think once a hybridizer sells those seeds, you are given the green light to do as you wish with the seedlings. Clear as mud ?? ~Edna~...See MoreIt Just Sits There For Years
Comments (18)Interesting! And I wonder how much humidity (or lack thereof) is a factor? We use radiant heat that does not remove humidity in the air. That's got to be huge if you're a plant, I know it is to me. When you've made the transition from winter growing to summer growing (indoor/outdoor?) do you then start watering a lot more? Plants do a lot of illogical things because they aren't rational by human standards so it doesn't mean much if I say it's illogical that a thirsty plant (but not thirsty to the point of dying) would have lingering difficulties with growth after a significant drenching. But that's how I feel since I've never seen an example of the proposed theory, just many opposing examples. What would it be waiting for? Shouldn't it know, "Now's my chance!?" But I'm sure we've all had a plant that didn't do what "all of the others always do" according to the rules of that plant. My mind is open to science of course, and opposing anecdotes, so I will keep visiting this thread to see what I might learn. Isn't S. trifasciata the "everywhere plant" of the Sans world? I've always assumed it was since it's, well, everywhere. So it may be wrong (and possibly boring to many) to even make many comparisons. I do know that since I've realized these plants actually DO SOMETHING, I want more, as long as they look different, and would like to know more about them. I'm learning about my plant (which is now in several pots) in retrospect, just glad he's not holding a grudge for previous grievances. I think the common name should be "forgiver." About anything you do to it will be forgiven....See MoreAmending soil that has been sitting 2 years

Comments (23)I think Haley is right, a 6 year old shouldn't be unsupervised when getting ready for school. I don't think she meant he should be dressed by his mother, only she should be there and awake waiting with him, making his breakfast and making sure he gets on the bus. If not for the prior problems I would give the mother the benefit of the doubt on not waking up, once. I still get my kids up and when I am home I stay awake till they get on the bus. They're older now but when they were younger they went to the neighbor's house on days I had to work or go to school so an adult supervised them. I still call most days when I'm at work to make sure they are doing ok and made it home from school. It's just not normal to leave a 6 year old to fend for himself....See More300ft_anin
