Hostas on Sale
Comments (2)Different online sources handle discounts in different ways. But you can start looking for these now. NH Hostas runs a rotating number of plants that are 40% off. Hallson has 23 plants labeled "Great Buy" Hostas. Made in the Shade has low prices overall, but runs one Hosta per month as a special. Naylor Creek will soon begin to Auction off their excess inventory on the Library Auction. You're too late for the White Oaks 'refrigerator sale'. That sells out early. Bridgewood Gardens runs a "Bargain Bin" with very low prices (2.95 and 3.95 per plant) with some really interesting and different plants. That pretty much covers the top rated mail order sites on the Garden Watch Dog. Others aren't running specials. Steve...See MoreHosta Sale - Grab Bag
Comments (16)I wasn't gonna do it cause the price was higher than last year. (Yup, I'm the friend who split an order with Alexa, and since I have a fairly small collection, everything I got was a new one for me.) This year, I ordered five. Wish I'd ordered more! They came yesterday, and I'm delighted. Naturally, I've never heard of any of 'em LOL. Beautifully packed, beautiful plants: A Many Splendored Thing, Avocado, Dream Queen, Rascal, and Silver Bay...See MorePauline Banyai driveway hosta growing
Comments (30)Mac - love your garden, and especially the "river" of heuchera! I have some Gold Standard OS because my mom grew up near Pauline and her sister and has a Gold Standard from them. I bought a few hostas when I first got interested in them from Pauline's sister. (I'm not using her name for the sake of her privacy.) I remember seeing a Sagae in her yard, and darn - still wish I would have bought one back then!...See MoreHosta garden tour and sale Sat. in Memphis?
Comments (7)Go ahead and join - you can do it at the sale Saturday. Everybody is extremely friendly - no snobs allowed. There won't be another meeting until September, so you have plenty of time to get it on your calendar. There are only 5 or 6 meetings a year - Sept, Oct,(can't remember if there is a Nov. meeting), Feb - Apr. Membership is very inexpensive and one of the big perks is being able to buy osmocote at the wholesale price. Even if you never attended another meeting, the savings on that fertilizer alone is worth joining. You can't help but learn how to grow Hostas if you do attend the meetings - or at least learn that yours are not the only ones that look terrible after Summer starts and that the beautiful photos you see in magazines and plant catalogs are either taken in the Spring or up North!...See Morenicholsworth Z6 Indianapolis
