Some interesting programs by an emergency room physician
Comments (8)Ed, I am so sorry to hear this. Is there anything that any of us can do for you? Are you at home or with your son? I've been on rat poison for almost three and a half years. So far I haven't grown a tail or am not covered with mouse like hair. One thing, there are many things besides leafy veggies that effect the warfain. They had so much trouble adjusting dosages for me and so many frequent trips to the lab to have the blood tested, that I asked to monitor the food I ate and tabulate the Vitamin K content to help keep it level. They were sure I wouldn't keep doing it but I have for over 1 year now and it has made a huge difference. Vitamin K ( not Potassium) thickens the blood so works against the Warfarin. Mine got out of whack a awhile ago and I didn't know why. I learned that I had eaten quite a few strawberries when they were in season, along with california grapes, and cherry tomatoes and tomato juice. They all had salicylates and I was not aware that the salicylates thined the blood too. If there is anything that I can do to help, even with this information, please give me a call. Did you go to ER by ambulance? You will have to get the INR blood test done quite frequently for awhile, and then probably once a month, if you can keep it level. I don't know where you go, but they are really good at the new lab on Bradley and it might be closer to you than the hospital. If you go shortly before 10 in the morning you miss a lot of the rush of people going before work and the reports go out at 10:30 to the DR.s I understand. My G.P. told me they only get 1 hour of training on the effects of foods. That is very very little. There are a lot of good sights on the net,and if you are able to be on the computer, I can give you some of them. I don't know if your computer is working or if you still were going to the library. You would be surprised the foods that make a difference. All the best and please, please don't take any chances....See MoreInfo about doctor, hospital, health issues by emergency room doc
Comments (24)Rob333 - you have no idea what you are talking about. In fact, I think my brain may have even exploded just reading your posts. Our local hospital can not refuse emergency treatment. There is no federal or state assistance. You don't pay the bill, you get sent to collection. You can call the county "assistance" office. All they do is request years worth of records and receipts and formulate a monthly "payment plan". You will NOT be treated at a walk in clinic if you do not have insurance or cash. You give them your insurance card, they call the insurance company to make sure you have met your deductible. If you have not, you pay for the visit up front, 289.00, and wait while they call your bank for verification of funds before you are seen. If you have met your deductible, you make your copay before you are seen. If you do not have insurance, cash up front! And, again, wait while they verify funds. There have been times that the funds have been electronically transferred from my account before I even left the facility....See MoreAnyone else visit the Emergency Room today?
Comments (19)Funny thing is (well, not "ha ha" funny), Sherri hurts herself at least once a week. She is always in such a big hurry that she trips, she falls, she runs into things. When she moved in with my folks, it was so SHE could take care of them! My folks always joke that they're glad they lived long enough to take care of HER! :-) I told her 4-5 days ago when she fell in the yard that if one more thing happened, she would be fired as a caregiver. LOL! She reminded me of that when she called on the way home from the ER. We joke with each other a LOT, so I said, "What kind of a sick-o is so starved for attention that they'd whack off their own finger?" LOL! Guess I better get dressed and get on over there to help my mom make lunch!...See MoreGoing to Emergency Room?
Comments (14)Very odd, I needed to go to my local urgent care center almost two weeks ago. On my way there, I was texted all the normal covid questions about fever, headache, and was told to wait (in my car) until I was texted to come in. When I walked in, a person at the door screened me again, took my temperature before letting in me the building. The staff all wore masks and gave me one immediately. I was the only person there, it was the last place I wanted to visit, but crashed my bike, going down hard and felt I needed to get checked out....See More- 9 years ago
