April Save yourself some heartache and get that spooker up now. I have NEVER heard of and Bluebird or Tree Swallow that would not accept a spooker quickly. A friend of mine on the other forum just lost a Tree Swallow to hosps and she traps all the time. She barely takes her eyes off any of her boxes this time of year. There was no nest yet and the hosps caught the Tres in the box. Please hurry You can make a home made job easily out of anything. www.sialis.org has directions. Ann...This is my first year to host bluebirds so I am NO expert...perhaps the veterans can offer more info... From what I know, a sparrow spooker should go up immediately after the first egg is laid.... Have you seen any ants yet? I greased my pole 1/3 of the way up with vasoline, but that doesn't last long...many on this forum recommend axle grease. About the mealworms...don't leave the apple in the dish...I take the mealies out of the fridge once a week, placing a few thinly sliced apple in the container(carrots can be used as well)., then leave them out about 24 hours to feed. Try putting a few mealies in the dish and place it close to where you see Mom and Dad perch...after they discover that and get used to the dish, then place the dish back in the feeder...that's what I did and it really worked! OK So, it's normal that I don't see the parent bluebirds for a few days????? I did see that some of the mealworms were eaten while I was at work today. It's so unusual that I have not actually seen Papa and Mama though. I always saw them before I left for work in the morning and then in the evening several times too. I asked my neighbor to carefully check the nesting box, and he said he would. Have not heard from him though. Guess I will try not to worry, and hope they are all still alive!

First, I have to apologize. The varde cabinet DOES have an adjustable screw leg. Mine is sitting on carpet (it's in my sewing room)so it can't be seen even if I slide the metal foot covering up. This is my cab: 1. The distance from the floor to the visible external part of the cabinet bottom. Their manual provides no detailed dimensions. :-( The length of the leg to the cab base is 7 1/2 inches. ====== 2. How much does each leg "protrude" from each side. I don't know how to explain it but the side panels are sort of recessed and part of the leg sticks out about 3/4", The leg protrudes about 1 3/4 inches from the side panel. ===== 3. If you do not use the metal surround on the bottom of the legs, would it look bad? The metal covering would help to disguise the adjustable leg, especially if the heights were unequal. Other than that, the wood leg is completely finished and presentable looking. ====== 4. How thick is the cabinet top? I think it is 1.5" but not sure. The cab top is just about 1 1/8 inch thick. Both top and bottom edges are slightly beveled. ==== 5. Have you by any chance seen a VARDE sink. If so, do you know the gauge? Does it look OK? Never noticed the varde sink.
