Why are you letting that branch get so long? I can't tell if that's your main leader branch or a scaffold branch? Those look like mealey bug infestation. Read up on it.

Thanks, I just got it yesterday. I was thinking of pruning it but was not sure of how short to prune it or if I should prune all the branches much shorter. Also it is pretty horizontal till the tip, am I supposed to tape it?

I have ordered from plantogram before and they also sent me a leggy avocado and I ended up having to trim back considerably. Its nice and bushy and much shorter since I cut it. I would at least cut that long curvy branch just past that nodule thats half way on the branch. You should get several off shoots from there after you do that.The idea is too keep a short bushy tree so you dont ever want to let the branches get too long in the beginning. Tip the branches just past the knuckle nodule and it will usually give you several offshoots .pruning young mango tree

If you want branching so you can walk, and mow around it, keep cutting everything off below 5' or so to let it get an upright stance.

If you want low hanging fruit that may touch the grass but are in easy reach of you, and maybe dogs and animals, trim that branch it to ~18".

Some like short trees for ease of picking, some like them taller so they can walk around them and still have usable yard space.
