Vitex negundo heterophylla - how to maintain
Comments (0)I live in zone 6A and have a couple of Vitex negundo heterophylla. I'm at a bit of a loss as to how to prune/maintain these plants. They send out long, rampant branches that droop to the ground under the weight of their foliage and flowers. The wood seems rather weak and soft. I'm wondering how others maintain these. Should I try cutting them to the ground every season, as I do with my buddleias? Or, every few years, cut them back by a third or so (as I do with rose of sharon, or else the weight of the flowers can bend the stems to the ground). Just wondering how other people handle this shrub/tree in this climate. Thanks! Frances...See MoreHas anyone used the Escali Pana Volume & Weight scale?
Comments (6)Thank you cookie and Sleevendog. I have loved my Polder scale, but I am really intrigued by what the Escali Pana can do. I have used the Polder for 3 years with no problems. But I am so addicted to weighing, taring, weighing, taring. . . . that it frustrates me to come on recipes I love which measure in volumes. I would love to hear from someone who has actually used Escali Pana. The King Arthur site makes it sound REALLY interesting. Comments (16)I do a class called BODY PUMP. It is an hour long class which primarily uses a straight bar that you attach various weights to each side, heavier weights for large muscle groups (butt, legs, dead lifts) and smaller weights for the smaller muscle groups (shoulders, biceps, triceps). The class is set to music and each song focuses on 1 body part. So after the warm-up you do a song where you load the bar with weights, put it across your shoulders and do about 6 minutes of squats. The you do a back workout, chest, triceps, biceps, lunges and shoulders. Last you do abs on the floor, then cool-down. I have been doing this class for 10 years, and it has totally transformed my workout and body. I love it!...See MoreAnyone on Weight Watchers?
Comments (4)I say, go for it. I know they have a new plan, but I have found in the past, they have an excellent program. In the past I did lose most of the weight, and it wasn't too hard, but alas, it is too expensive for me. When we are on a limited income, we have to budget carefully, and WW's weekly fee seems to go up and up. I truly wish I could afford to join again (boy, do I need it1) I still have all of the leterature from when I did belong, and have decided this week end, bring it out, study it and I'm going to start my own personal WW plan. At least its a guild line to follow. Good luck to you Marita 40, if you wish, please keep us posted....See MoreSummer
