just uncovered my 4 figs. I need help in determining if I should trim

I planted four 1-2 year old fig trees here in Warrenton, Va last spring. They did fine. I even got a few figs! once they lost their leaves and were dormant, I followed a suggestion to take the branches and zip tie them to the main trunk and then wrap the tree in leaves and burlap for the winter. I just undercover them and a few of the branches are now bent all the way in and not pointing up or out by in the opposite direction! I am wondering if I should trim it back to allow them to grow properly before the springtime growth starts?
