small hall bath can I paint ceiling same as walls...............
Comments (13)As we speak, I'm having my guest bath ceiling painted the same color as the walls, SW Antique White. I have a south-facing window in the tub alcove and my ceilings are 9 ft. When I had my entire interior painted 5 years ago, I chickened out in the first couple of rooms and had the ceilings painted white. It looks okay, but you see a white ceiling. In my hall and open space living area with vaulted ceiling, it would have been weird and difficult changing colors so I had it all painted the same. I love it. It envelopes the rooms. The light often makes the ceiling look lighter or darker. Sometimes the intersecting planes just disappear. That's my favorite look. I say go for it and if you hate it, repaint it. I hate painting ceilings. :)...See MoreSmall Addition, how small is bedroom too small?
Comments (19)NaviJen, pleased to see you posting with us. Mass. is a whole different style of housing than what I'm used to in Alabama. Like lower ceilings, big basements, storm windows, dormers, angled ceilings upstairs. And I've been surprised at the absence of air conditioning (a necessity built into every home in south Alabama), and the intrusive nature of many heating systems--including radiators, baseboard heaters, boilers and oil tanks! Those things take up a lot of space and money to operate also. As older folks who married almost four years ago (second spouses), my DH has a home up there, and I have one down here. That's why I sometimes do a flip-flop from north to south, you will notice. I've been redoing his house AND mine. Jen, be sure to hang in there with us, a lot of creative ideas come from this group of folks. And Steph, you are so unique, giving your boy his own bedroom!!! I'm thinking you need to get out more? hehehehe Having huge antique furniture can be a drawback in a smaller home. Of course, ONE PIECE could fit, maybe, if it is a featured piece. Something that WORKS FOR ITS KEEP. I do hope you have room for the things you've STORED FOR 14 YEARS?!! At least, put it in place and see if it leaves enough breathing room. After all this time, you may have fantasized it into something it can never be, and you've grown out of it....so to speak. Dreams are hard to give up. If I had a good spot to put it, I'd be looking for a nice armoire...just because I like those. But I realize it won't fit my house or my lifestyle any more....See MoreHelp with small center hall colonial with no foyer/entryway
Comments (21)Hi Maureen! It is wall mounted. I think it has 4 screws in the back. It does not interfere with our base moldings. I love that the depth is perfect. Ikea has a tall one and a wider one. Just search "hemnes shoe" on ikea and you can see what is available. They hold a ton of our shoes as well as keys, mail etc. I have the wide one in our kids basement are and the tall one in the living room. The backs are mostly open with two support bars that go across that may or not interfere with your moldings. You would have to measure up to see where your molding comes in play. I would be happy to measure the height of the two support bars if you would like. We also used a coat tree in the corner of our living room....See MoreFix the front hall - 'art' for small wall real estate + rug woes
Comments (10)That rug is fabulous and I love your other decor. I agree with you about not doing a bunch of little squares (art) ... especially with the glass design of your pretty front door. Too much repeat. I’d try a tall, narrow canvas or framed art for the left side, or a couple of colorful woven baskets for texture. Wall Baskets . On the right, something small and simple, like cute hooks, or key hooks, etc. Maybe a trio, if size permits. This place has some really neat ones (I’m not familiar with them, found it in a search, just using as an example): https://www.knobco.com/category/wall-hooks . Where your pot is, maybe something just a bit taller ... basket, small plant on short stand, umbrella stand. Macrame wall hanging ......See Morecaroline94535
