I came on this forum to ask almost the same question. I have a rosemary that I bought in a 5 gallon container last spring. I transferred it when I got it home into a bigger container(pretty plastic). When it started getting cold out, I moved it into my jacuzzi bathtub(lucky plant!) It is starting to grow, and it looks pretty spindly, and the new growth is pale green. I have it in the warmest, sunniest window in the house. Could it be too big for the pot? Does it need some fertilizer? Am I watering it too much, not enough? I would like to also train it to be more of a standard.... does anyone know how to do this? I will probably post this question on your forum since it does not have much to do with repotting. Thanks!

Looking through my herb book I found "rosmarinus officinalis aureus" - Golden Rosemary And paraphrasing... "Evergreen hardy perennial. Ht.80cm (32in), spread 60cm (24in). It hardly ever flowers, if it does they are pale blue. Leaves are green and needle thin with splashes of gold" A bit smaller than yours, but the only only one I could find that doesn't regularly flower.

Your garlic is doing great--it will stop growing until the conditions are right in the spring, and then will take off. Don't worry about keeping it from getting too cold. The bulbs are hardy and will survive, although you may see some yellowing at the tips of the leaves. Your rosemary may have suffered a temporary drought. Sometimes a lack of water will cause the branches to dry out, and then when the rains come, the tips green up because that is where the new growth is. There may be other causes, and other posters will have more answers for you. Gardening is a great mystery sometimes. We just keep on digging and hoping, and occasionally it all works out! We don't have enough information to be able to truly help you with your problem, but I'll make an educated GUESS that your rosemary has been overtaken with spider mites...which nasturtiums are very prone to. Those parts of the rosemary not growing in the full sunlight needed could really lose the battle against the mites. Plants must have the sunlight in order to make enough energy through photosynthesis to fend off pest problems, or at least survive them. Having said that about the mites, you still need to remember that rosemary is a plant that requires full sun in order to thrive. It cannot be happy when covered up with other plants. I would absolutely cut the rosemary all the way back to the ground and see what happens. I've done this many times to my rosemary and it has never failed to resprout like crazy. Mine haven't been hindered by lack of sunlight, though.
