seeding into woodchips possible?
Comments (3)FrankTank, "...plus I have a source of all the free woodchips I can haul." In that case, compost them. Build a large compost pile that includes a lot of wood chips. Combined with some grass clippings, a little soil, some Fall leaves, and some old compost, your free source of wood chips could be a bountiful source of organic matter for your garden and landscape. I also use wood chips for garden paths and walkways and they can become horizontal compost piles in that role, because the chips do rot over time. Adding some nitrogen fertilizer can speed up the decomposition of wood chips. That's probably a good idea, because wood chips can use enough nitrogen in their decomposition to cause a deficiency. Comments (5)Bigfoot's Botanicals on eCrater. I think he collects the seed from an undeveloped lot he owns in Texas. http://bigfootsbotanicals.ecrater.com/p/17647970/redring-milkweed-asclepias-variegata-rare http://bigfootsbotanicals.ecrater.com/p/28721625/300-redring-milkweed-asclepias-variegata-seeds http://bigfootsbotanicals.ecrater.com/p/16234575/redring-milkweed-asclepias-variegata-rare I bought from him two or three years in a row, and the seed was good. After that the price for the seed was beyond what I would be willing to pay, in addition to I don't plan on growing any more of that species. I live just outside of its native range. Mine flower, but none are ever able to set seed because I have too many insects that eat milkweed, probably because I have so many milkweed species in such a close proximity. Even some insects I did not even know eat milkweed, like one of the blister beetle species. I looked up the links on eCrater and included them here, looks like he is offering a lot of 300 seeds....See More2015 Asclepias variegata Availibility
Comments (5)Hi Folks, I've been getting lots of request already this year for seeds of Asclepias variegata. I have communicated with Dennis (ctnchpr) and he has already started a new thread called "white milkweed,2016". He will be handling the distribution of the seed himself if they do indeed make viable seed. I would recommend you check this thread often to keep up with the progress and he will notify us when and if seed are available. Regards, Mark Rose (wildflowerman_2000) Here is the link for the white milkweed,2016 thread: forums.gardenweb.com/discussions/3933086/white-milkweed-2016?n=7...See Moreoksandy48
