Hanstone Tranquility--anyone have it in kitchen or bath?
Comments (2)Just had the kitchen installed this week. In the end, we went with Quartz Masters Calcutta Grey. Don't have time to post photos yet but it is stunning!!!! Friends who've dropped by to see it have all thought that it was real marble....See MoreCaesarstone Lagos Blue or Cambria Sussex - pics anyone?
Comments (17)I am very interested in using Lagos Blue (which, for people who haven't seen it, isn't blue at all!). I have looked on the Caesarstone.com website and can find no technical specifications at all. On the CaesarstoneUS.com website I find technical specifications -- http://www.caesarstoneus.com/downloads/pdf/Technical%20Data%20Manual_FINE.pdf -- but nothing that's specific to one color or another. The ONLY thing I can find about Lagos Blue being different is that (1) if you buy ANY of the Caesarstone in a honed finish, you must sign a certificate that you expect that "metal marks, fingerprints, and other signs of daily living" will be more obvious and require more cleaning and (2) Lagos Blue is the only color where, in addition, to the honed finish certificate, it also has footnoted: "Honed versions of these colors will require more maintenance." With regard to its softness, Lagos Blue has a model number starting with "4" so it's apparently just as hard or soft as any number of other Caesarstone products which they claim to be harder than granite. MOHS hardness (scratch test) is in the range of 6.5 to 7.5, according to the US website. But I cannot find any information that demonstrates that Lagos Blue is more prone to scratching. If it is, I would dearly love to know sooner than later!! If anybody has experience or more information please pass it on. Comments (35)I am also having TCE 4005 Quartz installed on my kitchen countertops. I currently have white melamine cabinets. Should I get these restained in a paint that will go better with this countertop, and if so what shade of paint should I go with? I would imagine there is white shade that would go perfectly with this. Anyone know? Also what kind of backsplash would complement this? Thanks!...See MoreWhere to see slabs Cambria, Silestone, Ceasarstone quartz in Houston
Comments (10)poollivingthedreamnow - I can and will drive anywhere in Houston to see slabs, so location is no problem. Thank you for the recommendations for places to view. I've been to earthstone, Arizona tile, and Daltile (their warehouse is sooooo dark!!). But will check out the other suggestions. I definitely want to see full slabs of quartz before I buy it. I am deciding between quartz and quartzite ( I love the white kitchen look but am suspicious of quartz and the marketing claims that its as good as granite or quartzite bc its really just a mix resin, polymers, and natural stone). Also reading threads about people having issues with quartz fading, chipping, staining, or yellowing. So was hoping to go for a made in the US big brand name such as Cambria, Silestone, or Ceasarstone bc they have good warranties. But, seriously having a hard time locating yards with full slabs of these brands. Most yards make their own brand of quartz and the warranties are not as good if any, Joseph Corlett, LLC - thank you for your input! I'm guessing you will suggest a 3cm thickness with slightly rounded edge to avoid chips based on your previous posts?...See Morecantabra2009
